The Census data that gives us the 12.5 year average also notes that, if you remove light trucks (pickups and SUVs), the average goes up to 13.6 years, so those sedan folks are in it for the long haul, it seems.

I understand Jersey being on the list - the NJ Turnpike seems purposefully designed to make you screw up exits and interchanges constantly.
This is why it’s reassuring that California requires EV manufacturers to warranty the battery for 10 years, which is how David Tracy replaced the battery in his cheap i3 battery for a brand new one
I don’t know how it applies to the scale of rental car businesses, but generally, business tax rules let you write off the vehicle depreciation over a fixed period of time. It sounds like the value of the cars dropped faster than that, at which point they lost the tax advantage of keeping the cars around, and it makes…
I’ve had enough catastrophic failures of radiators, idle pulleys, timing belts, and tires that I don’t even listen to music while driving most of the time; I’m just waiting to hear something go wrong.
I saw that someone already mentioned this issue with their Suburban, but replacing a headlight bulb in a 02 Mazda Millenia.
It feels crazy to say this, but that back end looks pretty generic nowadays.
Jealous - I’ve had self dimming center mirrors, but TBH I had no idea it existed for the sides
It’s never the oncoming traffic I have issues with - it’s that my side mirrors are completely unusable when driving at night because both blast bright light in my face. All I can do is angle them further out to keep the direct glare off of my face, and hopefully point them back at the offending vehicle for a taste of…
Is it nice for traffic on the road to move over, if able, to make room for the merging traffic, absolutely! But it is still the merging vehicle’s responsibility to find an opening, and that might mean they have to let a few cars pass them by before it opens; there’s nothing that says you have to end your merge in…
Honda hasn’t had an EV until this year, so doubtful. I bet it’s more related to the number of times I’ve heard/read “I went to go check out ____ EV at my local dealer, and no one knew anything about it and it wasn’t even charged!”
I don’t know who would want this. The Venn Diagram of people who want an EV and who want loud engine sounds must be two distant circles
I’m sorry, there’s no where to put my license plate on the front without drilling holes in my bumper.
Pure luck. I don’t drive like an asshole other than regularly exceeding the speed limit, but in 20 years driving, I’ve been pulled over only twice for speeding (both tickets) and once for a California stop (no ticket).
I decided to risk life and limb, leave the safety of Atlanta proper and venture out into the suburbs to give Mercedes’ first branded charging hub a try.
How do you get such good quality out of the 360 cams? I love being able to reframe the shot after the fact, but everything I capture always looks so low resolution. What kind of post processing did you need to do for this?
Genuinely curious, how is a parked car with a sign in the window any different from any other parked car? So long as it’s parked legally, what difference does it make to your life?
I played with the GoPro Max a year or two ago, and as great as the flexibility of re-framing a shot after the fact is, the image looked like garbage in Premiere. I could never figure out how 360 cams generate such good quality pictures when, even in great lighting with no digital zooming, I doubt my shots approached…
IMO my eyes are more reliable when it comes to detecting rain than any rain sensing wiper I’ve ever used
