I think the UK is like Canada, where the Crown is the one who decides if charges are to be pressed or not. Removes the individual from the equation.

I believe the Crown can press charges if they feel inclined, regardless of whether Oisin would like them too.

Silicone Lubricant shouldn't attract much gunk, but the best I've found is Houdini 4-Way Lock Lubricant. Houdini on Amazon

I use a little bicycle grease (Park Tools brand). So far, so good.

Silicone doesn't attract dust, just the opposite. Regular oil or something like wd-40 will.

I have my router set up so DHCP clients get routed through VPN and those with address reservations go out the normal WAN link. That way I can choose individual devices to exclude from VPN and all new devices get VPN by default.
