As an amateur bookbinder, I can tell you that the externals of a book; the covers, spine and endbands were all originally designed to protect the interior, the text and the pages, so this trend, aside from confusing the hell out of anyone trying to identify the book throws that notion out the window. These are not

It’s on my list, as is a solar powered Torqeedo motor for the boat, so I don’t have to row across (someone stole my motor about 20 years ago).

I’d love a transporter machine too! The trip up is grueling.

That sounds like the ideal arrangement!

Thank you! There’s a chance of thunderstorms during the day, so the trip up might not be pleasant, but it’s lovely once I get there

Oh, well, Australia;

Thanks! I usually start to get antsy into the second week, and start looking forward to coming home to running water, an indoor toilet (I have an outhouse), and a comfortable mattress. And I will miss my cats. A friend looks in on them every couple of days, but one of them is very clingy for a few days after I get

Congratulations!

Yeah; it’s been like that here in Toronto since the second week (?) of July. It’s supposed to break by Tuesday, and go down to the mid 20's, but the cottage is far enough north that it can be 5 degrees cooler.

Welcome!

Any idea what it is?

Tomorrow I’ll be heading to the cottage for about 2 weeks (maybe 10 days, maybe 12; we’ll see how bored I get). It’s going to be cold! Getting down as far as 55 F (for you Americans) at night and sometimes not getting past 68 F during the day. I always pack lined jeans, sweaters, a puffy vest and even a puffy winter

Congratulations! On the new job, AND buying a new house!

I make a delicious summer dessert of equal parts vanilla ice cream and orange juice, with cointreau (up to 4 tablespoons if you are dealing quarts/litres of ice cream an oj). Mix everything together, put in smaller containers like dessert bowls, and put back in the freezer for at least 24 hours. It will not completely
