a tube of sand was way cheaper than a set of snow tires when I was 20 something, poor and living in an apartment.

We shared that 944 for a while. I barely drove the damn thing, which is disappointing, but it sold for more than we paid for it, so I’m not complaining.

Now playing

Forgot about one of the biggest selling cars of all time.

Basically, it was easier to stick a sourced overdrive unit on the back of a 4-speed transmission than to develop a new 5-speed (I believe MGB’s used something similar, I’m sure it was common enough at the time). But more importantly, it’s just fun to say Laycock de Normanville.

That Koenigsegg shifter is brilliant.

Missed Spyker:

I’m gonna stretch “drive” to include “fly”, so it’s the Bell OH-58 for me:

Hard agree on all points here.

Gamma Goat

I only know off the top of my head because I owned this same generation of Legacy (though I had the wagon,) but a double-din kit for these cars is north of $200!

If he has, he hasn’t told me about it! He should be back next week

Does it feel more GM-y or Honda-y? Could you be reasonably convinced this was a fully Honda-developed product from start to finish if you knew nothing about its origins?

I’m gonna be the “ND, someone else’s project” guy.

Steve, nice job filling in for Rob while he’s gone. But now I’m wondering if he fell off the Tower of Pisa?

ND. I used to want on of these SO bad. But modified Subaru’s are a roll of the dice, with the house winning most of the time.

I technically have one too. Like, all the parts are there. I think.

If they had actual jobs they would not have time for this Confederate cosplay. I know too many guys like this and this is how I explain it to people:

EYE RIASE MY PISS JUG TO THES TRU PATROIT HOSSES!!!! GOBBLESSS !!!!

I have one as well... Perfectly usable as a daily. Starts up every time and drives more or less like a modern car. The only reason I don’t daily it year-round is because of the salt on the roads in the winter.

Listen, I love y’all and this site, but I’m struggling to connect this article to the Jalopnik “Obessed with the Culture of Cars” ethos. Does it have something to do with filling the void of Jezebel after selling it to Paste Media?
