5th gen 4Runner. We bought ours in 2016 new for $36k. Essentially the same vehicle with some gov’t mandated driver assist tech slapped on and a nice(r) infotainment, is now $50k MSRP

First off, I think we can agree that both are bad.
Every time some idiot from Arkansas (or driving a car w/Arkansas plates) does something moronic behind the wheel, I typically pop in on either Jalopnik or the Drive or Autopian to deliver my “this isn’t the dumbest thing I’ve seen an Arkansan do behind the wheel this week.”
This is almost the exact conversation my wife & I had last night about the ‘gigacasting’ thing. We are a blast at parties, I can assure you.
Surprised Salang Pass/Salang Tunnel didn’t make it on this list. In the enclosed sections of the tunnel, its like being in a traffic jam in the middle of the night in the worst fog you’ve ever seen at 10000+ feet elevation. You can’t see from the diesel and other car exhaust, you can barely breathe due to the same,…
Ah so this was that fever dream of a post that was mistakenly(?) added to the site 2 weeks ago.
I’m in my 40s, lived in Los Angeles, San Diego & Dallas in my lifetime. Currently reside in Arkansas.
As I typically comment online, whenever someone with Arkansas tags does something stupid in/on/with a vehicle: as an Arkansas resident, I wish I could say this was the dumbest thing I’ve seen someone from here do with a vehicle this week...
Sounds like this was well on it’s way to being another “we investigated ourselves and found no wrongdoing” type sweeping under the rug until the press held him accountable.
Oh I 1000% don’t blame you. These aren’t reliable daily drivers.
The Renesis 13B MSP didn’t make the list? The 13B MSP didn’t make the list!! SWEET VINDICATION. -Sincerely, an RX8 enthusiast.

I know you’re asking in jest, but I have an anecdote for this.
That Gerashchenko video embed above is of the command & control IL-22 downed during Wagner’s coup 2 months ago.
Its like a low poly, truncated Ford Flex.
Related, I’m kinda wondering how this 8-bit design language will age. Looks cool/hip/edgy whatever now though & I’m kinda digging it.
Not at all surprised. Anecdotally, in my family/extended family, these have over a 100% failure rate. Some of my brothers-in-law have replaced multiple on their 2013+ RAMs on their own dime.
“We have investigated ourselves and found that we did nothing wrong.”
In austere environments, when your life & livelihood depended on rugged, durable, reliable transportation, the 79/100/200 series Land Cruisers, with their “25 year service life,” were the last word. Has the LC that is the subject of this article, & thus the TNGA-F platform taken up this mantle?
Those who selected a sail boat w/solar/wind/hydro electrical generation capabilities are probably the most right.
5th gen 4Runner. I don’t hate the vehicle itself (I own one and love the reliability/capability), I hate the fact that its been around for 14 years AND people keep handing over increasingly huge piles of cash for them, thus not incentivizing Toyota to make a new version until 2024. Or later.
