Oh I know. Wife & I used to make an annual pilgrimage until covid hit. It was sad to see the nearly un-abated decay both inside and out.

This is sort of a small sigh of relief, but I’ll not really let my guard down until the below-the-waterline repairs are complete, or a more long-term preservation effort kicks off to keep it from rusting away.

To get around the blocking of markups, Dealers (locally) will “sell” them to other dealerships within their franchise, title them, then sell as used at an insane markup. Heres an Area 51 1st edition. MSRP: $62k. Currently on sale “used” at a CDJR store for $93k, but check out the previous listings...

Is there a stat for specific model markup? Because every single Bronco on the lot at all 7 of my local Ford dealers is marked up at least $5k. Many higher-option units are in the $20k-30k over MSRP range.

I know its in jest, but an OTA fix (probably something w/active or speed sensitive noise cancelling) would be better than Ford’s “fix” for the rattles in our Mustang: “turn up the radio”.

Thanks for the link for the forums.

Hey a real owner, how’s the build quality on them? Specifically interior materials, bodywork fit/finish and NVH? I sat/rode in an early production Polestar 2 a few years ago and it was not great. Like Tesla bad. Really soured me on them. Hoping they’re better?

Most folks I know carry a sidearm when solo or way off the beaten path. But no long guns or body armor.

Nissan. Pathfinder.

It went from a legitimate contender in the body-on-frame rough & tumble SUV arena to just another blobby GMC Acadia-sized crossover.

Bought it “certified” from a Ford dealer (dealer 2 in the post above) with ~800 miles. Still has 2 yrs left on the bumper to bumper. Dealer said the mileage was from test drives. It was previously titled by the dealer, they said state law required them to title it b/c it spent more than 6 months on their lot unsold or

How much time do you have? haha.

I’m not a Mopar person at all but I enjoy the stupidity, schtick and attention to random detail of GYC. I dislike the cartoon thing. But its one of the few “car shows” my wife & I both enjoy. But I 100% get it the hate. I can see it. But I can look past “the suck” if there are 1 or 2 decent bits I can latch on to.

Note on the S550 Mustang - warrantees are great, if Ford honors them & doesn’t try to blame you for a manufacturer defect. I’ve spent since November trying to get 4 different Ford dealers to diagnose a driveline vibration that increases/decreases with speed in my S550 Mustang GT.

Some folks out there are so devoid of self awareness that they don’t realize being on the same side of a major issue as literal Nazis might mean they’re on the wrong side.

Some older (pre-1996 I believe?) Mercedes G-wagens have an ABS-disable switch.

When I lived in Los Angles, my commute was I-10 in bumper-to-bumper, traffic, every day. I’d just put my stick-shift 4Runner into 2nd, and basically 1 pedal drive to the offramp ~10 mi away without ever needing to go slower or faster than 2nd gear would allow

Tuning and sync’ing carbs. Its not that its particularly difficult if you know what you’re doing. I just have no idea what I’m doing. I was raised on fuel injection. Bosch K and LH jetronic. I could write a book about those. Diagnose a failed fuel distributor or AMM (MAF) from across a parking lot.

For a while a few years back, they were calling their cars their “boats” and that they were “boat captains” and the police were “road pirates”.

It is an attractive car. From some angles I see BMW, others Alfa and Lancia. I like it.
