I feel that. I sacrificed the “practical” bit of the equation for the “manual” part and went with a stick shift Mazda 6 instead of one of these, but I was very close to purchasing a TourX.

I know you know this, but for anyone else reading & thinking of doing this, just make sure you get in writing that there are no early-repayment penalties on the loan.
On flat ground, it was great. Great handling, great braking, sort of let down by the stock Yokohamas in the wet or cold, but once you got around that, it was a blast on curvy (flat) roads.
My former CX-5 (2.0l, FWD, 6 m/t) is a contender. At first it was great winding it out to redline in every gear while never exceeding the speed limit.
‘bout to dogpile on the height thing. At 6'1" in my 20's (probably closer to 5'11" now as I less-than-gracefully stumble into my 40's), I fit fine with a helmet in a 350z. I fit fine in my ‘72 240z as well with helmet. Not entirely sure what the issue is here. Maybe you just have a really long torso?

I went through driver’s ed during the “unintentional acceleration” era... not the recent Toyota one, but the earlier Audi/Honda/Jeep/Ford one. The instructors taught us to just jam it into neutral if at any point you felt the pedal sticking or let off the gas and the car kept going. They drilled it into our heads…
2 experiences with the Tempo/Topaz platforms from my youth: My first ‘driver’s ed’ car was a Tempo in that awful teal/blue metallic color. It would stall taking a left turn, so my instructor made sure we only turned right.
