Those 10 people who smoke in their car must go through a lot of cars, because practically every sub-$3k car on the market these days comes equipped with burn holes in the fabric, residue on the windows, and a felony forest.
Other commenters have likely provided more valuable info, but on my old Euro cars, summer is when the solenoids/relays start to act weird due to what I presume to be the heat. If I leave it until the winter, everything goes back to normal.
While my ‘98 4Runner is pushing 370k miles, and my ‘98 Volvo S70 is hovering around 305k, neither of those surprise me.
I’m genuinely impressed that the Jeep made it. A Wrangler wouldn’t have been anywhere near the top-10 of my vehicular choices to take on a road trip around Africa.
A 2.0 Ecoboost XL, optioned to be able to tow more than my Mazda sedan can (add 4k tow package), AWD, a manual sliding rear window and a spray in bed liner... its in the ballpark of $25k.
I’d love to see this succeed, but unless Ford can make it look beefy and rugged in its adverts (like they’re trying so desperately to do with the Bronco Sport), this likely won’t convert ‘typical’ truck buyers.
Is it price & size that Ford is counting on for this to succeed where the Ridgeline, another FWD-based “truck”, hasn’t exactly been the picture of success (~35k sales/yr)?
This... kinda reminds me of the time an Air Force Colonel swore-in an Air Force Master Sergeant who read her oath of re-enlistment using a dinosaur puppet...
I agree, but try finding one. I live in the US South, a land where the domestic is king and people still call Asian cars (even non-Japanese ones...) a racially-insensitive term that contains the word ‘crap’. And yet, despite this, an informal survey of the cars & coffee shows that there are more A91 Supras (5) here…
Sure is distinctive, though. And... I mean... we’re talking about it. So, mission accomplished?
If you’re parked right-side to curb (like you’d do in the US & other LHD countries), its a pain.
Its a mid/rear vehicle so this is one of the rare cases with a u-haul car hauler that the weight is close to properly distributed.
Top Gear, S7E6. Clarkson did something similar in an NSX on Gran Turismo. A poor quality video is available on DailyMotion of this, but for those who don’t want to sit through 10 minutes of 240p, static-filled awfulness, here are a few key takeaways:
1. the fear is real.
2. physical exhaustion is a factor in real life.

I read this elsewhere but it makes sense here: the biggest hurdle Ford will face with this truck is people being honest with themselves about what they need out of a vehicle.
Sorry Kinja was being weird this morning, I think this posted twice. Or more.
While I agree with the statement that bicycles don’t belong on the sidewalk, its very regionally dependent.

Every single fastener on this thing will be nightmarish to remove.
I’d request pictures of the frame at the bends where the rear control arms attach.
Also request pictures of the inner wheel wells, as these tend to rust through there even in dry climates.
Missing spare.
ABS light illuminated.
Oil pressure on the low end.

This is the south. Folks from here love to say its just a vocal minority who think this way and “not all southerners” think like this. Then theyuse that as their excuse to do nothing to change it because it “isn’t a widespread problem.”
