My ‘98 4Runner would love to see that. ‘course, its on K02s and has ~400lbs of scaffolding attached to the front/sides.

I bought an ‘83 Century for $50 in college. It had an Iron Duke, a toasted alternator, and some of the most comfortable seats I’d ever sat in.

This. I was reviewing the GM forums in preparation for maybe buying a 2.0T ATS a few months ago (didn’t), and a lot of folks were saying they cracked pistons on their early 2.0T ATS, Regal GS etc... and the dealer was able to tell they had a tune, even though they reflashed to stock before taking the car in. Most

My 3rd gen 4Runner returns about 14 MPG best case 60/40 hwy/city when I’m dumb (or desperate) enough to commute in it.

Military HMMWVs have a drain on the bottom of their air cleaner that looks similar to the one in the Q7 videos. They’re known for clogging in certain environments. In these environments clearing the “air cleaner dump valve” is typically added to the pre/post operation “checklist” (PMCS).
Naturally, people skip this,

I had an ‘05 Legacy 2.5 GT wagon that I lunched the 5spd in, replaced it w/ the 6spd w/dccd from an STI and that was on it’s way out (reverse, oddly) when I sold the car... all of this in under 100k miles. I’m not shocked they blew theirs apart with the amount of power that turbo’d flat 6 is pushing out.

Was that 17 mpg in a Taco or 4Runner? I drive like a grandma when I’m in my wife’s ‘16 4Runner Trail, and it typically returns 21-22 MPG in mixed use. I’ve whipped it pretty hard too over a weekend of towing and mild trail running and the worst fill up I had was 14 MPG, but that was after a 4 hour stint towing a

I was not aware of that, but it makes sense. Thanks for the insight... though I still kinda want a 6-spd manual 4x4 4dr 16+ TRD Pro Taco, despite it’s engine-deficiency.

An 8spd auto doesn’t magically decrease offroad prowess.

Oh I know, I’m on that forum.

Came here to say this. We have one (‘16 Trail w/5-spd auto) and while we regularly beat the EPA hwy number in 60/40 hwy/city use between fill ups, I find myself wondering how much better it’d be w/more gears (and perhaps the 3.5 direct injection V6 from the new Taco).

I think it’s more of a ding on the fact that everyone else in the midsized SUV market is slinging 8 spd autos now.

CTS-V wagon w/manual trans. They’re hen’s teeth rare.

Now that it’s in your possession... methinks its time to update your list o’ heaps in the “about the author” signature block?

The ‘06-’12 Ford Fusion. I had one (3.0 V6) while my Audi was in the shop (often) and I was blown away. It was quieter at speed than my B6 A4 and returned similar mileage with more grunt down low with smoother delivery. It was also bigger, and less expensive. Sure, the interior wasn’t up to Audi levels of refinement,

The part was the front skid plate for a TRD Pro. My wife has a Trail whose skid plate fell victim to the fact that it has a massive air-shovel in the middle of it that catches on everything.

EPA-numbers-wise, a ‘98 4Runner matches the combined MPG of a ‘98 Grand Cherokee.

As embarrassing as it is to say this, the current Navigator/Expedition/Tahoe/Suburban crop out-MPG my 4Runner on the highway by 5+ MPG and basically match the observed MPGs in my Volvo. And I drive like a, well, old man.

Yeah I mean this article could have been 2 words: Because Porsche.

Thanks! I was worried they would look weird on an S70 vs an 850 but I rather enjoy them.
