Nine One One when he read the numbers out to me, nine eleven when he said “its a 911".
Nine One One when he read the numbers out to me, nine eleven when he said “its a 911".
Nobody spoke up, but there’s a chance nobody understood the reference. All of the PCA members-only-jacket-wearing types were hovering around a 918 Spyder and the only people within earshot at the time seemed to be Subaru enthusiasts from the adjacent row.
At least you didn’t throw it in the washing machine... this time.
I never made it that far in my thought process... But I replayed that moment in my head a few [thousand] times and fantasized about the exact nature of the automotive-related debauchery we’d have engaged in had I not so decisively planted my foot in my mouth.
That’s the thing though... not everyone is going to say that.
Kind of a tangent but ref: “SS with the V8" moments - pre-wife I was conversing with a rather attractive young lady who worked at Best Buy. I’d just purchased a plasma TV and was loading it into my slightly modified Audi in front of the store with her escorting me past ‘security’.
These will all make excellent additions to my collection.
Worse: his vanity plate said something like “BADDUDE” or “BD2BONE” which now that I think about it, could have meant a host of things I’d rather not think of in the context of this particular fellow.
I know I missed the boat on this one, but a while back I chased down a guy in a black Porsche 993 w/PCA stickers all over it. Thinking he was an enthusiast, when I finally caught him at a light, I rolled the window down and said “nice 993" to which he gave me a disgusted look and said “its actually a 911" before…
Go somewhere else.
I only have one left, and I’m keeping it. Besides, it isn’t what most people would consider to be “good” (it was my college car, too - Purdue, just down the road from you, did a lot of hackjob repairs on it, keep lying to myself that I’ll do right by it ‘as soon as my other projects are finished’ yeah right).
Hahaha I thought of your Saab/Volvo addiction when I was trying to count how many 700/900 series turbos I’ve owned... surely you’ve owned (and currently own/drive) more Swedish iron than I have.
Start? I never stopped.
I’ve had about 14 of them over the past 20 years (all 700 series turbo wagons). Kept my original (‘89), still have it stuffed in my garage taking up space. Still runs though.
I have no idea why Rezvani or anyone else does this without any real tie-in to the service... but I don’t mind that they’re supportive of the country. I just wish they’d put it the other way... like it is on the space shuttle, civilian airliners, some civilian Police cars, and the flag replica sitting on my right…
Sure. Actual US code is referenced by the American Legion link I sent you, wherein they indicate there is nothing in the US code that governs replica US flags on [civilian] vehicles.
I guess my point is, it’s more of an etiquette thing, vs. a hard/fast law.
