They are sociopaths and idiots, but this was surveillance footage from cameras installed in the house, I assume by law. Not them recording things for shits and grins. Just FYI

It miiiiight have something to do with the fact that the kind of douchey assholes who are into the collegiate “greek” system are douchey fucking assholes who don’t give two shits about anybody but themselves and their douchey asshole friends. But I think I’m going out on a limb here. Have you ever met anyone who was…
In fact, this is not TV. Its real life. So, when people have died and lives have been ruined, emotions run high, people yell.
frat boys are insulting to our intelligence, so that shows where we’re starting from.
“I’m upset that the public has a misconception as to what actually happened,”
As someone who went through pledging and dropped out, the answer is absurd, absurd amounts of alcohol. Like chugging a full solo cup of Jim Beam in a “boat race” and then continuing with beer bongs, etc. I’m guessing everyone was super fucked up, and probably at least a handful of people on other substances.
“Lawyers representing several of the brothers attempted to block the surveillance footage from being shown...”
How do you misdiagnose a traumatic head injury? Those are really fucking obvious, and it’s plain as day from their text messages that they knew exactly how badly they fucked up. Instead of helping him, they discussed how to weasel out of responsibility. At one point they actually stopped a pledge from calling 911.
there isn’t anything new here. just the presentation in court for the first time.
there is no reason for shouting at the other lawyers.
Also: people often fail to understand that to someone deeply clinically depressed, suicide might actually seem like a generous act for one’s loved ones, by sparing them the “burden” of one’s own terrible, inherently worthless life.
I understand what you’re saying, but if you stay depressed long enough your life will be objectively horrible even when your depression is in remission.
I ride the F & A/C trains twice a week. I ride the R/W on the other days. For the latter ride, I don’t go far. So I’m not privy to the chaotic delays that people encounter. I see conductors/operators getting way too much shit. They are almost universally pleasant, communicative, and helpful if need be. I like to look…
This is 100% true, but having suffered from depression on an off my whole life but i have to say situational depression is also real. Things in your life can make it worse and changes to circumstances can make you happier.
@ ‘“Deplorable” conditions’,
We’re all in this together. Be excellent to each other, nobody be a dick, and we’ll get through it okay.
Looks like around fifty a year, give or take, depending on the year. So once a week?
A common misperception about depression and suicide. Many times (if not generally) people are not depressed because their lives are terrible, their lives are terrible because they’re depressed. Depression is not being sad because things aren’t going well, it’s a neurological condition. If you’re talking to someone…
I gotta say the train operators are the absolute last people I would be blaming for systematic issues.
How many people die under these trains for it to be considered routine?
