I actually studied that a bit in school - there are quite a few researchers who think there might be enough correlation there to get some good studies going.

So did Arthur Conan Doyle. My favorite part of his life story is his falling out with Harry Houdini, as Doyle was convinced Houdini was using real magic no matter how many times Harry was like “You’re a dipshit.”

I really hate that we can’t just call this tone mapping. It’s tone mapping. It’s the equivalent of making an HDR picture from a single exposure, which isn’t really HDR, but....wait for it.....tone mapping.

This! Right here!!!! I’d love a female president more than anything, but I really think the only way to pull enough mindless uneducated people in the right direction is by offering them Mitt Romney’s anti-matter. I also like his policies, so I guess that’s okay too.

I’ve been mumbling “So it goes” to myself at least twice a day for the past two months.

Hey, guess what’s impossible? Getting a screenshot in Steam with the overlay showing. My vague description will have to do.

Same here - I also mostly work from home and had the exact same idea about the Steam Link.

I got one last month when it went on sale (a Steam Link as well) after having a 360 pad for several years. I’m not a great reference, as I tend to play one game for months, but I don’t think I can go back to a regular controller now. Playing Fallout 4 with it is amazing (mostly). You do have to spend time setting it

Lightworks is neither free or useful. The free version is severely crippled in terms of output and the audio engine as a whole is awful. If you’re doing anything remotely professional in Lightworks you need to bounce your audio out to a DAW (which, admitedly, your doing anyway with anything professional.)

Yessssssssssssss. I’ve tried to explain to so many friends that HDR is ultimately an INPUT process, not an output one. The output process is tone mapping, and that is unfortunately what most people think HDR is. I had a client ask for interior photos of their house and requested the “HDR” look. They showed me some

100 million of those views are my three year old daughter. I’d apologize, but I think I’ve suffered enough to make up for it.

If the genre title “Space Asshole Simulator” doesn’t catch on now, I suppose it never will. Well played, Hamilton.

As others have mentioned, it just looks like the second lens is taking the picture out of focus and an algorithm is used to blend the two together (always center out, it seems) with edge detection. I still can’t figure out why they need a second lens for this - it seems they could just duplicate the image, blur it,

Edison Park is terrible. It’s really just the half of Park Ridge that is in the city limits and is populated entirely with WEALTHY white people. Jefferson Park severely lacks diversity, but I find poor white people to be much less insufferable than the wealthy ones. I say this as a poor white person, though I am

We too had the “hey, why not Ravenswood?” talk with our realtor. It lasted about two minutes. We did get a lot more house for our money by moving to not just Jefferson Park, but the bottom corner of Jefferson Park, where it’s houses for blocks and blocks. And blocks. And they are too close together.

Nothing has ever lifted my spirits as much as “at least you didn’t move to Naperville.” Though I think Schaumburg might be worse.

Chicago is amazing as long as you don’t try to buy a house but can only afford something big enough for your two kids in the Jefferson Park neighborhood which is the whitest collection of white people on the planet and there are no good places to eat NOT THAT I’M BITTER OR ANYTHING.

Your final 56 hours!?! Sweet Jesus does your school have M.A. Programs and when can I start?

I had that idea, but it turns out that CLEP acceptance is AMAZINGLY unregulated, to the point that even schools that claim to accept the results often have so many hoops to jump through that it never pans out. I had planned on CLEP’ing out of two gen eds, but got so frustrated at trying to get approval that it was

It’s definitely unique, but man that’s a huge pain in the ass for a nice but not mindblowing look. It also seems like PS is doing most of the legwork here.
