I’m saying it because even JPL is concerned about the assumptions being made regarding this mission (as they’ve opened every conference with.) We are not getting the highest resolution images of Jupiter. Not by a long shot. We’re getting the closest, which is amazing, but not the highest resolution. And it is low

Whoa there Tom Jane, everyone seems to be agreeing with you, just pointing out that (by their own admission) they put a low-power visual spectrum camera on this thing for public engagement only. We’ll get incredible images, but not as incredible as we could. We’ll get AMAZEBALLS ultraviolet images, though.

Oh yes. Now that my daughter is three, I pretty much sleep fully clothed so I’m prepared for whatever two in the morning adventure I’ll be taken on.

The bummer of it is, this mission was never about taking photographs in the visible spectrum and was fitted with an unspectacular camera at the last minute. We’ll get amazing insights into Jupiter, but amazing images not so much (contextually, of course, as any new image of Jupiter is amazing).

I’m pretty sure Rich Moore was the only director on Wreck-it Ralph. He did co-direct Zootopia, apparently because the initial director was not doing so hot. I hope he’s directing this one by himself - Rich Moore is amazing and responsible for some of the best Simpsons and Futurama episodes ever.

My pleasure. And I apologize for implying After Effects was the worst of the three options and I slightly envy your line of work.

That’s the saddest, most accurate and depressing back of the napkin calculation that has ever been done. Good on you, mate.

Dammit Chomsky, why do you ruin all of my fun?

Kids these days are THE WORST.

Wait, is “Photoshopped” now just a term for any special effect that makes someone look different? Cause it’s more likely she was “Nuked”, maybe even “Fusioned”, or if it was a cheap studio she might have been “After Effect-ed”.

I am very much going to miss your writing on this site. Will you still stop by to post the occasional movie and book review?

Same boat here, and I’m surprised at the amount of people commenting who have no idea how prevalent Quicktime containers are in video production. If this means Apple creates a decoder for Premiere that is 64 bit and doesn’t run like crap, then it might be okay. I’ve switched to Resolve Studio for most of my work and

I got a Wacom tablet just for this purpose. I do studio and portrait photography so I don’t do it too much, but sometimes I need to make an accurate mask to do background work and tracing is the best way to go. And every time I consider billing extra for it, cause damn. Tedious as fuck indeed.

I was going to say that everyone involved with that went on to crush awards season with their film “Crash”.

Holy shit I didn’t realize this was directed by Alex Proyas. How in the name of Osiris do you go from Dark City to this? Even I, Robot was at least competently directed. Also The Crow.

Same here. Our first kid required espionage levels of planning to conceive. Our second kid was like “Hey, let’s go off birth control and see what happens”. Literally the next day.

In that Facebook thread, Gunn confirms that Klementieff is playing Mantis.

You’re Adobe CC skills are moving on up, good sir. I like it. (Assuming you’re using Premiere, as I thought you had mentioned in the past.)

Is no one else seeing the ghost of Bill Hicks in the back seat?

For what it’s worth, Saving Private Ryan used more off-set shutter than shakey cam. Still a lot of camera movement, but a different effect/feel. Also hard to do convincingly with digital, apparently.
