I played the crap out of GoldenEye when it came out. I recently came across a N64 and a copy of GoldenEye and, whoo boy, are you right. Emulation really spoiled that game. I didn’t remember the original running at about 10 fps, but it sure does.
I don’t understand people harping on your headline. For the past year, based on the discourse provided by the previous administration, it needed to be said over and over again that “herd immunity” is bad, in that it would cost possibly a million lives. It’s understandable that the average person could be confused…
I might have said this before, but I would absolutely buy a collection of your Kotaku writing in book form, or would just love an essay collection of some sort. I really enjoy your non-fiction work.
I have a friend who is a Stadia person. It’s true. All of it. (And I use Stadia sometimes as well and think it’s great, provided you’re lucky/wealthy enough to have gigabit fiber internet and unlimited data.)
That’s a bummer to hear about Sonnenfeld, and is made all the more strange by the fact that he is possibly the dweebiest looking person on the face of the planet. I can’t imagine that personality coming from that face. I really liked “Get Shorty” when it came out, so again, bummer to learn that about him. I would also…
I have thus far in my life quit smoking, alcohol, and coffee. Quitting coffee was the absolute hardest of the three. By far.
Hard agree. This is a VERY select group of people in the film industry who get to play with other people’s money and then get paid for it, and (as I’ve screamed before) it’s mostly white men. I loved Blade Runner 2049, but it was a financial disaster for the studio, and if it was directed by a black or woman filmmaker…

...thanks for...hating...to....say it, I guess? It’s based on my experience with L and FL glass, which is of course subjective. Turns out you’re right about the toxic thing though.

This is my question as well. I thought I had read previously that most of the deterioration was being caused by private salvage missions trying to make money from selling relics.
I have yet to find a lens that will take better pictures in my studio. They all make me do it, the lazy pricks.

Right, so - I’m a commercial/portrait photographer in Chicago. I moved to Nikon full frames from Canon a while back, so I can’t speak to the pros/cons of this particular lens, but I will tell you my experience with both brands of “L” style glass (Nikon has a similar thing with their “Gold Band” lenses) and you…

My wife is a CPS teacher and our oldest daughter just finished her first year of Kindergarten and, yeah, for all of our nationally criticised faults, we do have our shit together better than a lot of other places. Except for our police department, of course.
Sure, you can criticise these whippersnappers if you’d like.....or you could go for what’s in the box that Jiro-san is bringing down the aisle right now....
You have so perfectly encapsulated my feelings I feel the need to print out your comment so I can just show it to my film loving friends when they ask me how I feel about Tarantino. I’ll try to keep a running tally of its use for royalties purposes.
I just read Murakami’s “Pinball, 1973" so this video is perfectly timed.
Ahhh, but you forget the magic of the “Production Assistant”. The closest Starbucks could have been two hundred miles away but, if a principal cast member wants it, bet your ass an underpaid twenty year old film student is making that trek in record time.
Oh my God thank you...
