I thought for sure this was a pun, but now it seems not to be!

No, probably not. I bet a lot of the attendees are Christians too though, just maybe not his kind. I don't think he's going to convert anyone, and maybe he doesn't either. Maybe he sees it as being all a matter of little ripples, as other protesters do (or advertisers, come to that).

I didn't comment against the validity of religious belief. Just because the stories have been passed down doesn't mean they necessarily have no basis, but the fact the have been passed down and recombined is demonstrable.

Sure, but my confusion here is that he seems no more offensive to me than Hare Krishna devotees chanting, or even someone doing Tai Chi in the park. I can't begin to look at this man and think "asshole" about him. There may well be more to this scene than meets my eye, which is why I was curious to understand it from

He's very loosely implying that, yes. I expect there are a lot of religious people who feel uneasy about fandoms of superheroes, and I couldn't blame them for feeling that their religions' stories had been co-opted to create these new legends (although of course every religion cribbed its stories from previously

Yeah, but he's not standing in traffic, and given that his chosen venue includes people dressed as Thor and Catwoman... :)

Interesting... I'm an atheist born of atheists, so I've never been to church except for weddings and funerals and there's probably a lot here that I don't understand.

Agreed. I firmly do not believe in any gods, but I don't agree with picking on neutral Christians. It's their right to stand there with joke signs just as it's the right of the protesters to hold their signs, but personally I think they ought to save it for the ones who protest at soldiers' funerals and say

What did he do that was crazy?

This man's not part of Westboro Baptist Church though. All of the WBC signs are explicitly provocative, whereas his is just a standard Christian sign such as you might see outside a church.

Nice of you to say so. Unless the other side of his banner says something completely different, I don't see any problem with what that guy is doing. He's giving up his time and energy to quietly make his point, and he doesn't seem to causing anyone any offence.

That's pretty good though!

It depends on the games you play.

Same, I'll definitely give this a go! I've wanted to see more games on PC with this "blissful" aspect about them - maybe that's not the best choice of word, but however you'd describe that feeling of sinking an hour or two into PS3 games like Flower and Journey - so I hope it does well.

I love this! The rhythm and the smiles are excellent.

This seems to be saying 20 deaths per 100,000 women born in the 70s. Disturbing, but not necessarily worrying.

It probably was chips. It's impossible to throw crisps, unless they're still in the bag, whereas chips are an excellent starch-based projectile, weighty with fat.

This complaint is amazing, and it comes up every week.
