First and best take. It is not hard to imagine that if you get a bunch of rich white Protestant males that all went to Ivy League colleges roughly 40-45 years ago, and ask them to problem solve, they won’t have much difficulty working together to solve the problems you present them.

Why does Trump need to discredit the Mueller investigation?  I thought that it proved “no collusion” and gave Trump “total exoneration”?  Or did he finally give up on beating that dead horse?

Exactly - it’s not controversial that diversity is making bipartisanship more difficult; it’s framing it from the perspective of white males dealing with others’ diversity as an obstacle.

On the one hand, it’s correct that increased diversity (cultural, ideological) is going to make compromise harder, because you have more points of view that have to be reconciled into a workable solution. This is a fair statement.

This is a great example of the ossified thinking of an elite class member who cannot fathom the mindset of people different from himself and those within his exclusive network. Of course it was easier for the Senate to be more polite when it was mostly wealthy white men from the same class and same social circles.…
