Maybe I am a safety nerd but there is no way I would do this in a car without a roll cage and helmet. And it wouldn’t be my car unless we are talking about a thousand dollar beater, even if I was filthy stinking rich.

More than 10 years ago, I took my then girlfriend (now wife) to one of my track days and I finally made my way from the intermediate to advanced group at Summit Point. It was a rainy day and the track had already claimed the quarter panels, bumpers, and fenders of an M3, NSX, and Ford GT. Meanwhile, I was driving…
That was an execution.
This looks more like an attempt to drive a Lada off a roof and less an attempt to jump a gap. If the former, this video is a huge success!
Seriously! I can’t think of another SNL alumnus who is less funny than Jimmy Fallon. Now, we find out he is an asshole as well. What a tool.
You can also switch summer tires with bald tires. I see a surprising number of people in nice-ish cars and AWD vehicles (not just shitboxes) with tires that look more like dry racing slicks than road tires.
These are the same people who see a 10 year old German car worth about $12K and talk shit about the rich people driving them. It comes heavily from jealousy, not necessarily the ability to afford these things but the actual balls to try and do something unique and different (ie buying a cooler old car knowing it may…
This reminds me of the time I did a Tough Mudder up in Frederick, MD and aside from the area not having the right infrastructure to accommodate an influx of 5,000+ cars and participants, they had everyone park on a grass/dirt field for the event. Low and behold, it rained all day and turned the parking lot into a…
I recall many years ago going to a boutique that sold “like new” luxury goods in Soho and mentioning that I wanted to buy my first high-end watch (up until that point it was Seikos, Citizens, and Tissots). After directing me to the already out of my budget Audemars Piguet Royal Oak collection, they showed me their…
One would think that wasting Coast Guard time and money would be preferable for someone claiming to want to help the Coast Guard. But that is based on logic, something this person seems to lack in all regards.
I guess the issue is that if you want a boring people mover design, Tesla sells them with much more range, power, and tech integration for roughly the same price.
The E38 us also one of my favorites! I have seen a few of them with S62/6MT transplants and will seriously consider tracking one down after I sell my M5 for something smaller lighter. While the V12 is a wonderful engine, I like my manuals and the S62 doesn’t require a supercar budget to maintain.
That might make the pre-turbo GTIs like 25% less fun.
I get strong Lancia and Alfa vibes with this concept although the grills and side profile do draw a bit from the 2002. Either way, its nice to see something new and refreshing come from a brand that has been making a small, medium, and large version of their sedans and SUVs for quite awhile now.
I have the second one in my garage and find it to be one of, if not the best looking sedan ever made.
I can’t remember if I dreamt this or if I read it in an actual article (I’m a bit jet-lagged) but I recall seeing that this car has different modes to simulate the experience of driving GTis of the past. IE different power and traction delivery modes.
I had the privilege of seeing either the Delorean Time Machine featured in the show or one that was used for a promotional event in midtown when out to lunch a few months ago. I was more star struck than with any of the celebrities I have met in the past. The level of detail in person is pretty amazing and I tried my…
I recall having a fifth-gen Jetta as a rental when my Subie was getting some new shocks/struts and suspension tuning at my local tuning shop and recall the engine/transmission combo being pretty terrible. It felt underpowered, was horribly unrefined, and sounded terrible. Strangely enough, the cylinder head was…
Replacing the T-stat in my E39 M5 wound up being a 3-month ordeal partly because I foolishly thought I could cheap out and just buy the T-stat and scrape the old one out of the housing (it didn’t work, so I wound up just buying a new housing with the new T-Stat installed). Also, removing the housing exposed all the…
I’m 41 and back when I was a camp lifeguard (23ish years ago), a friend of mine had fairly intensively tuned Starion. With that said, my mom bought me The Great Book of Sports cars and I was obsessed with the A310 and GTA. This is a pristine example and if I wasn’t dead set on replacing my M5 with a 997.2, I would be…
