1. Prince
I love How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966), A Christmas Story (1983), A Christmas Carol (1984), Scrooged (1988), Home Alone (1990), The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992), The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993), & Love Actually (2003).
I’m rooting for Ke Huy Quan & Brendan Gleeson. I’d be happy for either guy.
Lost all respect for Judi Dench. She’s only saying all this because she is close personal friends with Camilla. Fuck the monarchy. I hope Charles and Camilla are eternally lambasted in pop culture because of The Crown in Princess Diana’s memory.
Neve Campbell is number one for me. I’d have liked to see Katharine Isabelle (Ginger Snaps) or Fairuza Balk (The Craft) here. Very strange ordering like Drew Barrymore over Sarah Michelle Gellar?
JAWS
Paul Haggis should have been arrested for directing Crash
Michael Keaton starred in Beetlejuice, Batman, Batman Returns, Jackie Brown, Birdman, Spotlight, Mr. Mom, Herbie: Fully Loaded, Spider-Man: Homecoming. Keaton was the English voice for Porco Rosso! He voiced Ken in Toy Story 3. What more do you want?
I wish Brie Larson was in better movies. Short Term 12 & Room are phenomenal films. I liked Scott Pilgrim and Just Mercy, but ever since Captain Marvel, Brie is just cashing in for an easy paycheck. Go get your money, girl, I guess.
William Hurt was incredible in The Village & Moby Dick
Regina Hall, Michelle Yeoh, Kristen Stewart, Sydney Sweeney, & Rachel Sennott look amazing.
Christian Bale will always mean the most to me as Bruce Wayne and Batman. His Bruce feels realistic with this dejected mourning and sympathetic humanity. Bale’s emotions feel raw and his Batman is brutal, heroic, and clever.
Why not just Regina Hall? She’s so funny and pretty.
I’m terribly upset. Jean-Marc Valee was one of Canada’s greatest directors. The Young Victoria, Dallas Buyers Club, Wild, Big Little Lies, & Sharp Objects are all incredibly moving and nuanced in his own unique style. May he RIP
A Beautiful Mind
I just hope Olivia Rodrigo sweeps and Billie Eilish gets something. I wonder if Taylor Swift’s evermore will beat out Olivia’s Sour for Album of the Year?
Jim Starlin was Adam Warlock’s best writer, though he was created earlier.
I just saw French Exit and that’s up there as one of my favorites of the year now too.
I’ve enjoyed I Care A Lot, The Courier, The Mauritanian, Judas & The Black Messiah, The Legend of Hei, & Raya and the Last Dragon.
RIP Richard Donner
