Problem is I don’t know who many of those voices are. I log into any one of the streaming services I subscribe to and it’s massive volumes of things I’ve never heard of. I know they all need their proprietary content but the lack of theatrical releases and the associated reviews and market reception they create make

I think Scorsese is arguing that if something isn’t done to elevate and amplify those independent voices, then those voices will get drowned out, and that’s not good. It’s great that we have unparalleled access to those independent voices, but ask any independent developer on an app store what good that access is if

I swear to god I don’t think I remember a time before now where I’ve had such unparalleled access to independent cinema from a variety of voices and experiences. Not being facetious in the slightest; I can log into any number of different services and see the most insane range of projects. I don’t really care if they

I’m very excited for Killers of the Flower Moon. Less excited for a month of the AVClub doing the guy in the yellow suit behind the tree meme towards every piece of press where someone even obliquely asks about the state of popular film.

Emma Roberts comes off, both on screen and in real life, as an incredibly entitled and unlikable person. I have no idea if this happened at all or exactly or close to what Ross said, but I find it difficult to give Roberts the benefit of the doubt.

Michel Gondry’s video for this Kylie song is amazing too.

Couldn’t be bothered to actually go through the whole list, but NO BJORK?!? Blasphemy!

Smells Like Teen Spirit is #19

Huge miss not including any Bjork on here, especially the work she did with Michel Gondry. She really innovated in this space and the medium.

It’s obviously very hard to narrow down thousands of videos to just 50, but I will always have a special place in my heart for Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden, and its omission from this list is glaring.  Great video, great song.  Sober by Tool also needs to be here.

Future Snub: Better Call Saul and all of its actors getting screwed like always.

Clearly the solution here is to create even bigger, more expensive movies and release them fifteen-to-twenty at a time. Audiences will be so bewildered by the sheer number of releases that they’ll have no choice but to watch them all, multiple times over.

It is absurd that a dozen movies are made for $250million or more every year.  They can’t all be runaway blockbusters.  How do these executives keep their jobs when more than half tentpole movies lose scores of millions of dollars?

My problem is that Meg Ryan just feel miles out of Billy Crystals league.

I don’t know that the chemistry is better, but Joe Vs. The Volcano is amazing and way better than those two.

Tbf Midsommar was also no where near as clever as it thought it was.

To quote Run the Jewels (in reference to the Ferguson protests):

I’m all for mocking Nancy Grace, but everything else almost sounds like he’s a parody of a misogynist. He sounds pretty fucking insufferable.

Lemon needed to go a long time ago. He’s a bad journalist and a bad person.
