Full Frontal has the same zany fury that permeated the Daily Show, but even better. Samantha Bee is a genius.

Yep, the true inheritor of Stewart’s crown is Samantha Bee’s incisive Full Frontal. I can’t even remember the last time I watched a clip of The Daily Show, much less a full episode.

Even though Trevor Noah probably didn’t have anything to do with the tweet, this post still reminds me of how downhill the show has gone since John Stewart left. It’s cringe inducing.

It's okay... I have friends that have lived here longer than me (13 years) that have no idea that we have a busy Metro/subway system.

I wasn’t trying to insult LA. If you notice most of those cities above LA are in the Northeast. That section of the country was built up first and cities like NYC, Chicago and Boston saw their population booms occur long before the automobile became the basic and cost effective mode of transportation that it is today.

I work downtown as well, and there is no way I would drive in from the South Bay everyday. The gas and parking would kill me.

Like 1.3 million people take a metro bus or train a day in LA. That hardly counts as ‘doesnt get much use’.

Came to say this. I’ve lived in Downtown for over 13 years. Used the Metro every day for about 8 of them. I would tell friends, “let’s just take the subway instead of driving there!” and a response was typically, “Since when do we have a subway?” and then they’d be shocked at how packed the thing would be.

“Wrong. I live in LA.”

So, OK? The metro gets used a lot, just mostly by poor folks. Are you just going for the easy joke or...?

The blue line generally leaves the station going south during rush hour completely full, so people can’t fit on at the second stop, but I get that’s not going through West LA or anywhere

hey I’m in LA and I use metro pretty regularly.

After seeking out so many female authors, I have come to the conclusion that male authors are published under a lower standard.

“lady journalist”

12, apparently.

Remember when John Green saved the entire YA genre with his awesome standard fiction books with male protagonists?

Lady journalist? How about journalist.

I’ve had to argue with people to say that it was legitimate sci-fi (it’s set in an alternate future with multiple invented technologies). Funny how male geeks tend to omit female written novels when it comes to “true” sci-fi.

This is exactly how men writing novels is “literary fiction” but the same book written by a woman is categorized as “romance.”

It wasn’t supposed to be an academic study. It was supposed to be journalism.

And how many writers really have enough clout to choose their publisher? You want to get published, you take what you can get. (And which major publisher that takes women as seriously as men should she have picked? This is an industry-wide
