I look forward to an even longer filibuster when republicans fuck it all up. Woooooo.

So I don’t mean to redirect the discussion, but I wanted to share a personal, positive anecdote. I’ve been reading Jezebel for a while, and commenting here as well. I’ve really tried to take to heart all the great comments and articles I’ve read, about all the challenges that still face women today.
Normally I’d agree with you on the NRA aspect, but this one strikes me as some what-evil-lurks-in-the-hearts-of-men shit. Gun or no gun, this guy was going to kill her. The poor girl died of acute testosterone poisoning (by proxy).
But guyyyyyyys, why don’t abuse victims just leave??
Actually there was a paper on an HIV study that suggested that there isn’t usually sperm in precum. That’s not true of all men, and it’s definitely not true if you go to round two without peeing or cleanup, or if you’ve masturbated right before. But for many men, it is true, and for many situations, it does work. When…
The sad face sticker on the door really hit home for me.
THIS. When I was younger, still living at home with my conservative parents, I took a political science class at the local college. We had weekly debates, and for the reproductive rights debate, I took the anti-abortion side, because that’s what I believed. The professor asked if I thought abortion was murder and…
The Nurse Practitioner at the Planned Parenthood I went to when I first started having sex told me it was the most effective way to prevent pregnancy, when done correctly. (The problem is that it is not always done correctly.)
I’m not a crier. I rarely cry. But I cried now. What a brave woman. What a scary country we live in. I just dearly hope it doesn't get any scarier than it already is for anyone who is not a cishet white man.
fuck off
Thank you so much for sharing your story with us.
How selfless and incredible of this woman to share such a painful, heartbreaking yet insightful story. So much love going out to her.
It’s a shame, you know? This judge had such a bright judiciary career in front of him, it is just a shame that this one little verdict will mess up his entire future.
Not calling out Sam Bee here, but wanted to get something off my chest: I’m always a little disgruntled when “thoughts and prayers” get mocked and derided in the wake of a shooting. My church (hippie dippie New England Episcopalians) formed a Gun Reform Legislation Committee after Newtown—we have teams of callers who…
I applaud the racial diversity that was highlighted but I’m disappointed there wasn’t more attention on Spring Awakening. They did have a performance on the broadcast, which is wonderful. This was the first time a show was on Broadway (not off-Broadway, etc.) that had numerous Deaf actors in lead roles and the actors…
It’s also nice to see the musical categories go to the most deserving nominee. Lead Actress in a Musical was a stacked category with four amazing singers. It says a lot about Erivo’s talent that she was able to stand out the way she did, and it says a lot about the voters that they didn’t ignore it so Hamilton could…
Year round Nantucket residents are nothing at all like the wealthy folks who merely summer there. It can get pretty desolate in off season without a lot of employment opportunity.
Everything, literally EVERYTHING about Meghan Trainor said “one-hit wonder” and yet she is still here, annoying us...forever.
There was a This American Life on her, it’s a two parter and an excellent listen on the commute home (although some parts almost made me she hulk clean out of my car). http://www.thisamericanlife.org/radio-archives…
There once was a girl from Nantucket
with talent as deep as a bucket.
She tried to “sound black”
and wrote songs like a hack
so they gave her a Grammy when they should have said “Fuck it.”
