Or mountain lions, or wildfires, or earthquakes, or mudslides... (I would assume). California is beautiful but damn if it doesn’t seem like the gateway to hell sometimes.

Sometimes I think about moving out to California, but then I remember there are no bears where I live.

Selling tickets at a price too low simply means that scalpers will scoop them all up and resell them at much higher rates.

The average income of a Broadway theatregoer is over $200,000/year. 80% of the Broadway audience white. If you think the audience for Hamilton is vastly different than the people sitting in the houses of the other 39 Broadway theatres, you are sorely mistaken.

I don’t think there’s ever been someone so qualified to hold this office.

I don’t understand- if they’re annoyed with scalpers why don’t they just make the tickets non-transferrable? Only the person whose name was used at purchasing (or designated if its a gift for your mom or whatever) can use the tickets. And if you can’t use them, you can sell them back to the theater for the same amount

When you tell me there’s a five-figure battle for tickets to see a Broadway play, this is what I think of: insanely vainglorious socialites using Hamilton tickets as a proxy for social status and fake cultural accomplishment.

Art should be accessible to the general public at any level at a fair price.

Yeah, look, this is musical theatre. Old rich white people is the demographic for pretty much ALL of it. Hamilton is an oddity specifically because it’s one of the few that has attracted a young, diverse audience. But those young diverse ticket holders aren’t exactly the ones who are supporting Broadway.

Jesus fucking Christ. She and her team are going to absolutely decimate this election campaign. Fucking scorched earth, march to the sea style.

oh my god I’m laughing so hard right now

Bernie. Bubbala. Come on, dude. I love you. I love you so much. But stop. Please. It’s getting embarrassing.

That quote is from the show’s producer, not Lin-Manuel.

Twitter has really improved this election.

Contrary to why NYC residents might think, the vast majority of Americans have exactly zero options to enjoy live theater this way. Movies have far surpassed theater in cultural relevance. It might not be the same but that’s ok. It’s like having the ‘best camera’ - the ‘best’ camera is the one you have when you want

Things I would rather do with 900 dollars than see Hamilton, ranked: 1. Burn 900 dollars 2. 5 day all inclusive stay in Sri Lanka including flight. ( wife and I have done this for 890 dollars total) 3. Order 900 double cheeseburgers. 4. Attend 30 Baltimore Orioles games. 5. Flush the money down the toilet. 6.

Yes this. Then we wonder why modern Broadway has so little impact on modern culture and thinking. How much of an impact will the collective cultural consciousness have from “Hamilton” versus something like Beyonce’s “Lemonade” or even the latest Marvel movie? If you want to say something meaningful about immigration,

No one outside of NYC gives a fuck about Hamilton, or theatre in general.

More navel gazing from dumb millenials.

I can’t wait for this to burn out. I saw it - it wasn’t that good (think: white suburban dad rap).
