I work at a university and I teach a class in a large lecture hall named after a professor who was killed by one of his students. Dark thoughts right now.

A female Dem and a black male Dem. Not the ones they’re looking to fix a damn thing for.
I work at a university, too—and my door opens into my office, so I can’t block it to shelter in place safely. I have to hope, when a shooter comes to our school, that they aren’t in my building.
I believe He is.
You know when proper gun laws will be put into place? When someone goes into congress and shoots half of them, while they’re in session. That’s unfortunately the only time these fuckers will care to do anything, is when their lives are under threat and they need to ensure it never happen again.
Every time this happens it is like the floor has fallen out from under me. And yet I am also not surprised.
Oh, there’s a commenter a little higher up who you’ll just love...
You have somehow become more disgusting by trotting out your Black wife and children, as if that means you are not being ridiculous with your idea that someone making your kid a sandwich is gonna infect them with HIV. I assure you that an HIV-positive person has most definitely prepared your food at some point in your…
I have no doubt that you’re not alone in feeling that way, and that fact makes me very sad. I have worked with an HIV+ chef and had no problem eating the food he prepared. I’m an emergency responder and have had extensive training about blood-borne pathogens, and that training just makes me more comfortable with it. I…
You know, my mom once told me the same thing about her HIV cousin who wanted to hold me as a baby.
Well, considering that someone’s HIV status isn’t really any of my business, I’d say yes, I absolutely would let someone with HIV serve my kid food. Because: a) how am I supposed to know if they are or not; b) it’s not generally a question one answers on a job application for a fast-food joint; and c) I live in the…
It’s interesting to read, isn’t it? 30 years this person would have made this exact argument for why she wouldn’t allow her precious children to eat food prepared by gay people, and been equally sure that was a perfectly rational position that had nothing to do with bigotry.
Just out of curiosity, how do you feel about vaccines?
HIV is so fragile outside the body, you wouldn’t even need to run the knife through a commercial dishwasher. A dose of bleach or even soap and water would kill it. Heck, air kills HIV.
even if the food contained small amounts of HIV-infected blood or semen
yeah, and what if someone not HIV positive cut themselves? I really really really hope they aren’t just going to shrug and go “well, he doesn’t have HIV, we’re probably fine”
Off topic but:
Are you absolutely positive about it?
