Oh fuck off. There are a bunch of decisions like this over the years that have been questionable. F1 has always been about the rules and politics. You know what happens in NASCAR when a late race caution screws over the leader? Nothing, they call it bad luck and move on. To say that it is no longer a sport is like

You do realize people have gotten lifetime bans for antics similar to this that were less dangerous? Ask Flavio Briatore how that worked out for him. I don’t think anyone would risk a lifetime ban over a championship.

Wait is this the only punishment for driving a vehicle like this on the roads? Hmm it might actually be worth taking the racecar out on the roads just for fun if the punishment is so low

They offer carbon brakes because it is an engineering cop out. Its the “easy” button for adding brake capacity. They run at higher temps so they can dissipate more energy with the same ventilation.

I would, but sometimes the hotels all fill up next to a track and it is either camp in 100 deg weather, or find a buddy with an RV. I’ll take the AC in an RV if I can manage it. I’m gonna need a generator for that.

I learned how to drive stick in one of these back when I was 15 from a very generous family friend. Back then it was the fastest thing that I had driven and I felt like a million dollars driving it. Having said that, my experience had been in karting and it didn’t feel like that at all. Looking back I wouldn’t trade

Remember last year when prices went negative briefly? Can this be treated as trying to balance our storage capacity and overall consumption? Release a bit (another comment said 2.5 days worth) now is a win-win. Ease prices temporarily and free up some space in case production gets a lot volatile and we can be paid to

I think it is worth buying the Cup at $100K over. At least you are getting your money’s worth, instead of having the ADM go to the dealer.

Calling it now, 500 HP, 9000 RPM redline.”

He ended the 2020 and 2019 campaigns in sixth and seventh, respectively.”

Race marshals are slow because of the different lines of communication. Spotters have a direct line into the driver’s helmet.

I mean we have spotters in Porsche Cup and used them in World Challenge. The bar is pretty low, you just need someone to be at a vantage point calling out issues. They don’t usually usher the driver through traffic like NASCAR, but they are able to provide valuable insight into track blockages.

I mean it is Corvette racing. I’m not sure if there is anyone else on the grid with a larger budget.

I am really surprised the team doesn’t have spotters in this blind location. It sucks that there was a stackup there because people didn’t understand the rules of how the restarts worked. Having said that, having spotters around the track can warn drivers faster than a yellow can.

I don’t understand this take.

These last 5 laps make up my favorite racing clip of all time. I saw it live and was yelling at my TV after the final hit. I couldn’t believe the Corvette crew wasn’t out there in the Porsche pit waiting for the driver. I’d be livid if in the final race of the season, they just wrote off the entire car and put the

Oh shit I wonder if my car has a touch screen? I’ve never tried using it and do very well with the iDrive knob and buttons around it.

Check you pride at the door when getting in any race car is good advice. Some things you can and cannot step in. Some formula cars you’ll put your foot through the floor if you step on it. Some want you to step in the seat. Some people will wonder what the fuck you are doing stepping on their seat.

Is there an official datasheet available yet? I’d love too see the voltage and amp rating of the motor with a given duty cycle. We need someone to drive this at 1000 hp. Even if it only lasts for a few seconds.

BMW’s flash the brake lights under hard braking. Following one into a corner it really caught me off guard because I thought the guy was modulating and letting off his brakes. I felt dumb in the moment in realizing this is a safety feature as well.
