"The only way to stop discriminating on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race."

This is a good article, but I really didn't see the point of it all. Why swap coffee for tea? Yes, I realize you were going to give SOMETHING up, but why coffee of all things? Then, you swapped it with tea — and most tea has caffeine, just like coffee does. Did you just swap one source of caffeine for another? If so,

I think you'd be surprised how many people have filing cabinets at home. I know several. Check around on Recycle.com, Craigslist, at garage sales, and at flea markets/thrift stores for old filing cabinets.

My wife and I have the same exact phone, same upgrades, and same problems. So do two of my friends who have the same phone.

Shop at the discount places that stock furniture. Not a specific furniture shop, but a discount store. I found a high quality L-shaped desk that is made with solid wood (not particle board) for $90 when furniture was running 50% off. Even at the $180 price point, it was cheaper than anywhere else I could find a

I've learned my lesson... go with the company that provides you the SPECIFIC services you need for the lowest price, as long as you get decent connections in the area you spend most of your time.

I used to use the disposable razors, either completely disposable or just disposable heads. Then I bought a safety razor, and I will never go back.

There is some universal advice in here, but for night shift workers, it's not just converting times over (i.e., you can't just switch out 8:00AM for 5:00PM). It's very different. A day shift worker's 8:00AM is spent getting ready for and getting to work, while a night shift worker's 5:00PM is spent waking up and

I'd like to see a few posts that accommodate those who work the night shift. I'm in law enforcement, and I start work around midnight, and as long as I don't have overtime I end up home just before 8:00AM. I go to bed at around 9-9:30, and then wake up somewhere around 4-5:30PM.

I've never understood these services. Why not just sign up for a second, permanent e-mail like Gmail, and use that anytime you're in a situation where you feel it might generate spam or unwanted ads?

Your identity can be stolen, causing extreme damage to your credit and credit score which may take years and thousands of your own dollars to correct, even though you were a victim of a crime.

Or, people who have trouble saying "NO" are parents who have learned to give their kids everything they want. I'm continually ashamed to see other parents run to their child's every beck, call, and cry. Teaches kids to be demanding, needy, and banal.

There are definitely benefits and drawbacks on either system, including, as you mentioned, the lack of an Uninstall feature for apps on Mac OS X.

I gotta admit, and the Kotaku self-shaming-straight-white-male authors will love this politically correct statement...

I see your point and really agree to a certain extent... But don't forget, this is about marketing to a specific group. It's called your "target market." If you're developing a military FPS game, your market for that game is going to be predominately male. Thus, you cater to that group to entice them more. It's

A *LOT* of games feature female protagonists on the box art. If they decide not to do that, I really don't care either way.

Well Kotaku. at least you are consistent. Another stupid article with political-correctness overtones. I am not surprised at all. I really gotta stop giving Kotaku any more tries, it is as they say — it's the worst of the well-known video game sites.

Yeah, because the difference between a creepy guy and a cool guy is how good he looks. That's not superficial judgment, is it?

Is he looking at the woman? Did he think he heard someone call his name from behind him? Was he verifying that he was going the right way?

You're right, you don't have to love your job. But let me tell you, when you enjoy what you do, it makes a whole world of difference. I don't dread going in to work. In fact, I look forward to on most days. I enjoy my job. I love working in law enforcement, and I keep myself busy if the citizens don't.
