After looking into an IIHS study regarding underride of semi-trailers, if the the driver truly did underride the trailer, the crash is not survivable even at 30 mph (only survivable with underride guards). The guards are only put at the back though...and 75+% are not strong enough.

While the Tesla might have been speeding, most of the time the design speed is higher than the posted speed by 5-10mph. It is possible that the vertical curve was insufficiently designed and constructed to the standard that the design speed dictated.

I’m kinda surprised that we don’t test our cars for crashes at 70-80 mph, many are done for 35-40mph and many people in the suburbs are usually on the highway.

They are everywhere here in Central North Dakota from the brodozers to the normal work truck. I’ve seen a few cop cars with the LED light bar in addition to their normal police lights. Even farmers have them.

Sometimes the pricing includes a better driver or a better case. CREE LEDs are great until the LED driver circuits die.
