You can do that in maybe California, but not in North or South Dakota. No charging stations nearby (Tesla has a few superchargers in SD but they are 300 miles away from me). It gets tough when it’s a minimum of 100 miles from the nearest city in every direction.

The value hit helped me get a hybrid at the same price as a normal car. It also makes for driving 500 miles on $20-25. Basically I got a car that essentially costs almost zero to operate.
