Hold on there, cold weather testing is also done at KRC on the Keweenaw Peninsula in the UP in MI. Only Southern Lower MI is like Southern Ontario, the UP is much more like Northern Ontario/Manitoba in climate with much more snow.

I’d say around 2-3 years before you have one helper for the car wash (I started helping around 5 or 6 yrs old, it was fun).

Blow drying a car by driving is a good idea though. After a wash, take car on arterial @40-55 mph for 15 min. Nice and dry, then use rain-x window cleaner to clean spots off windows and rain-x the car.

Tom, do what my parents did...operate the sprayer and have the kids (if they are old enough) do the scrubbing with the foam brush at the car wash. If the kids did a great job, get them some food or some ice cream (my parents would get us kids ice cream if we helped scrub the cars).

I have a rule about this in the rural state where most roads are unpaved. If camping or doing stuff that involves unpaved roads, wash it when one gets back to the city. No gravel road time, once every 2 weeks or whenever the urge to see your car immaculate hits you.
