The other choice was government “analyst” or “engineer”.

Is Jalopnik and Doug DeMuro blocked in China? I understand Doug being blocked, but Jalopnik? Come on!

I helped set up at the 2015 NAIAS in Detroit (I did logistics for MSU Solar Car Team). I was in the hall in the basement (the hall for the Army tanks, the rejects and small companies). Even a small display took 2 weeks of preparation in East Lansing (upping the car from race quality to show quality along with the

Should’ve went with the diesel. 6.66 mpg for a 26 footer fully loaded.

Wouldn’t it be better if NHTSA/IIHS just tested these robot cars for their risk of accidents like normal crash testing? IIHS crash avoidence testing basically is like testing a semi-autonomous car. Calfornia’s government tends to turn anything it touches into poison.

Neutral: Does a gray Ford wagon count?

Haha you don’t know horrible mileage until you drive a 1991 Land Cruiser. 8-9 mpg! That said they don’t really break down and a good independent toyota mechanic drools over fixing one (easy to fix). The worse mileage you get the the more you love it!

Brought to you by Logger, the beer that brought the forest down!

The weird twist at least in MI is that MI became a right to work state after the bailout where the big 3 and their unions are based. What was even weirder was that almost all visible opposition came from public sector unions.

I knew about their straits before the recession. They were more lucky than good i agree, but I still believe that they fundamentally changed how they did business which is a very good thing.

I’m not entirely sure that Ford would’ve sunk along with GM as a result of supplier base. Many of GM/Ford’s suppliers also supply Toyota and Nissan. Toyota and Ford cross-licenced each other’s tech. Toyota got access to emissions tech for trucks while Ford got to access Toyota’s hybrid tech. Both share telematics code

If there’s one thing the bailout taught me it was to buy a Ford. While the bailouts were a necessary evil, Ford made a gigantic statement by not going into bankruptcy and it shows in their products. Ford was also the first American maker to actually compete with the Prius (the Volt was never intended for to compete

The sign people don’t get to do this in MI (I used to be one and we would get fired possibly). Some people drive so angry...this might make them crack a smile and think twice about it (this would be more effective than any slogan that the Office of Highway Safety Planning ever came up with).

A diesel car would be good for a farmer or living off the grid since it is easier to make biodiesel (this could be made from weeds or soybeans) than ethanol (darn US government thinks anyone homebrewing ethanol fuel is making moonshine)(essentially no cars can take 100% ethanol....maybe the e85 ones?).

They were cigar burn holes for me! The car smelled so much of old velour interior that i could fill the car with cigar smoke and it wouldn’t leave a smell driving around Lansing like Will Ferrell did in Flint. I didn’t even mind that the OEM tape deck came out of a Buick (I know that’s heresy in an Olds!).

A MK 2! One of the most beautiful cars ever!

That red velour interior makes me want to take a nap in it or something else (Disclaimer: I had a Olds with this interior).

If I was a prudent, low key rich person, I would share a private jet with other rich people and use it to bypass TSA crap, airline crap and also use it to conduct business. Never underestimate being able to go to almost all airports (even small, rural ones) with this jet to do business. If you’re rich enough some of

Nonsense! Rich people drive Accords too (the ones who don’t want any attention because they have gobs of money).

It’s not where they can just make money....it’s where they can make money from the engine and make money from servicing the engine (you can’t decide to not change the oil for 20000 miles in a plane unlike a honda car).
