Most multi-season situation comedies generally have a life cycle where, after the first season, the characters become more shrill, turn into stereotypical “types”, the situations become increasingly detached from any reality and the writing lazy. Schitt’s Creek has, refreshingly, reversed the entire normal life cycle

The hospital system I normally went to decided to just up and close their dermatology department. I made a new patient appointment with the other major hospital system in our city in June 2018. That appointment was last week.

1st it was the raking, now it’s healthcare.....good grief, when will these Fins learn?!?!?!?

She followed up with: “Health care costs are too high that is true but comparing us to Finland is ridiculous. Ask them how their health care is. You won’t like the answer.”

I’ll get it started. Cut my thumb with a razor knife at home. Have Gold plan BC/BS. Was in the ER for less than an hour. My portion $960.

I have enjoyed these tweets. Haley’s problem is she’s comparing the cost to the citizen, seeing a lower number for Finns and assuming it must have been a lesser product because she can’t fathom a government subsidizing health costs for the benefit of its people without worry for profit.

when rich people hear that we want everyone to get equal access to healthcare, they naturally assume that means they’ll have to suffer the way we do, because they know that their extreme wealth depends fundamentally on our poverty

But but but...if we had some commie pinko European socialist healthcare here we’d have to wait MONTHS just to get in to see a doctor!

Though we haven’t followed the show as closely as we’d have liked

Jeff Lewis is a horrible person, not that we didn’t already know that. Some choice quotes from that People story, where he is talking about the man he’s dating on his radio show, after he specifically asked him not to:

Hi, Rebecca. Can I please get out of the greys? I do comments good. I’m not a super prolific commentor, but I get likes and I don’t troll. It’s been a decade. Help a lady out.

She has far more grace than I could ever imagine having in her situation. I imagine the bullshit will more or less persist until her eventual obituary, which of course will reference Clinton.

I really admire her. That’s not to say that what she did when she was 24 wasn’t wrong and a little dumb—but people are finally attuned to how ludicrously unbalanced the power dynamics were in the Clinton scandal. She is still the butt of SO many jokes. I wonder how many married men who’ve slept with their subordinates

When I pulled up Hulu this morning, it was the first thing I saw! Can’t wait til the hubs leaves and the babe goes to sleep tonight. Totally friday night wine binging this!

I’ve thought Lindy was a national treasure since a few years after I moved to Seattle in the early 2000s, but it’s her appearance on This American Life recently that made fatness click for me.

i only know lindy from her jezebel career and the work she’s done after, but even i was comparing what i “knew” about who and how she was to aidy’s portrayal of her. it must be wild to actually know her and then watch something like this. how could you not try to find slivers of people you know or experiences you were

So happy to see Aidy Bryant get a star turn. She and Cecily Strong are the only reasons I watch SNL. This continues to be one of my favorite things:

I am shrieking with joy. I took an actual day off work and I’m watching. BTW, Shrill has top lineup rn on Hulu’s mainpage.

Same, I’m gonna watch this and eat sorbet and then harass my friends into watching it too.

Oh god. I teared up reading that right now. I bought the audio book a while back and it’s time for another listen.
