The Fox had a 10-15 year run as the champ in this class of cars but with a buy-in point as high as it is those days are ovah
I don’t think $4k for a decent foxbody is a deal at all. They’re 20 year old cars that are absolute mules by today’s standards. The LS1 Camaros can still keep up and aren’t that much more expensive.
I’m not gonna agree with you on this. It’s far easier to make moderate gains by swapping intercoolers and piping, setting wastegate springs, exhaust, etc than wringing small power bumps out of something that’s all motor by tuning, cams, and the like. Water cooled turbos like the Protege are plenty reliable.
Protege is a dark horse pick but the mazdaspeeds handled on rails. Decent community too. Not the best mod platform in the world unless you wanted to rebuild the FSDE though.
A tolerable fox body isn’t really that cheap anymore.
Stanton-Judge (if he keeps pace) would be the best 3-4 since Manny and Ortiz, right?
Well I’ve never done a track day but it sounded from the NASA website that the classroom portion required you to read the book in advance and be prepared to answer questions on the rules. So the NASA event you didn’t have a ride-along? Just “here’s how you drive on the track good luck”? Was that a HPDE event? Sorry…
Melo and Rose for Kyrie and dead cap weight would be fine with me. Who says no?
I’ll have to look into some of the other ones aside from NASA and SCCA. I’m a Mazda owner so we don’t get a nice spread of opportunities like PCA/BMW/etc. Also - I thought NASA HPDE required a membership, not sure about SCCA. NASA also, like, tests you on their 200 page HPDE bylaws before you get on the track, AND…
jesus, is there a melo-irving deal in the works? holy hell i hope this is true
yes sir
i had a feeling this wouldn’t work
do any of you want my svt focus
how many rotors is correct number of rotors?
..........at oppo???????
The MS3 wasn’t too bad. I thought the MS6 was the stepchild in that family.
Smart people would have checked in NJ but I am not a smart person. I’ve looked at Thompson, NYST, and Watkins Glen / Lime Rock, but those two are HPDE only and would cost about as much as my car. Those are good ideas though.
I’m in NYC. What’s the best way to get my car on a track around here?
heh.
