I had the benefit of having a decade or more between reading the book and watching the series, and I loved it (same with American Gods season 1). Sure, when I went back and re-read them the differences stood out more, but I agree it was a great adaptation.

“Embezzlement” seems like an odd charge for failing to return a rented videotape. And I have a hard time understanding why it would be a felony for a tape that would have been worth $60 at most. That’s just weird.

These complaints are nonsense. Sam is given the shield at the end of Endgame. And last week’s episode was all about him coming to terms with taking on the title. What do people think that shield training montage was for? His final talk with his sister? What did they honestly think was in the box? Give me a break.

Yeah Endgame made it clear what was going to happen. Mackie opening the next movie with the Shield and suit wouldn’t feel off at all.

Since they are clearly working towards a Young Avengers movie and/or series, I find that likely. As of right now we’ve nearly got the complete membership, either already introduced or soon to be introduced. I think the only ones missing are Iron Lad and Hulkling. Kid Loki?

Agreed, and that’s also a reason they did it this way, if you missed the show, him showing up as cap in a new movie would offer zero confusion after Endgame.

Maybe we will see his grandson take up the mantle of the Patriot like he did the comic verse.

I see a few complaints about “Sam is the new Cap” spoilers but didn’t Sam!Cap feel inevitable (esp. since, you know, the biggest(-ish) movie of all time ended with him with the goddamn shield in his hand)? I don’t know, I feel like that borders on “Harvey Dent eventually becomes Two-Face” kind of spoiler that actually…

Y’know, a parallel storyline showing young Isaiah vs Bucky in Korea could be pretty cool.
