I think that’s a dangerous premise. Note that these guys aren’t confronting armed rednecks, so it’s also not a premise you can really back up. If you think these militia types are scared of conflict, you’d do well to remember the Cliven Bundy drama where they were basically arrayed against armed federal agents.

Also fun: Remind them who signed off on immigration amnesty act, sold weapons to Iran, and raised taxes several times?

Fun activity: Remind Conservatives & the NRA crowd who got open carry nixed in California..

No way. They will keep all their gun rights and just enforce them unevenly, just like always. White Person doing anything with any gun: 2nd Amendment. Dark Person with a legal gun: Philando Castille. “I feared for my life. He reached for an object. He was coming right for us.” Hell, even if the legal gun is imaginary.

Oh dear god no! Not polyandry!

Dude. The only question(s) I asked were about explaining the single remaining member of otherwise extinct group. That’s not an element of all single-gender fictional societies, so in truth, I really only ask the question when it is a significant plot point. In my experience, some stories provide explanation, some do

This is a movie about a strong protective brave powerful man taking care of a weaker female. There is a reason why they made it about a parent/child to try codify that dynamic and hide it under something societally acceptable, but ultimately this is a movie about how great Casey Affleck is.

Well, what’s weirder to me is that the one woman (girl?) left in the world in the Casey Affleck flick isn’t the main character.

I think the scientific term for a disease that skips only a single person of the susceptible group is “plot device”. I wouldn’t get your hopes up for an explanation.

True, and I wouldn’t mind exploring some of that upheaval, but I’m sick of people managing to dream up every possible world except one in which women have power and sexual agency. Casey Affleck’s version of a world-of-almost-no women is one in which he gets to camp in the woods and unleash hell on anyone coveting his

Here’s the Trailer for Casey Affleck’s Film About a World Without Women, in Case You Wanted to See What That Looks Like

I realize that, and I don’t care. If Casey Affleck can imagine a world in which there is a sex-selective plague that carries off his sainted wife but spares his daughter, I can imagine my preferred version of a world of scarce women.

I’m pretty sure that the phrase “light of my life” has been around much longer than Lolita...

What? Lolita isn’t the origin of the phrase “light of my life.” It’s an idiom that’s been around since at least the time of Euripides. It’s a perfectly normal thing for a dad to say about his daughter. Hell, that’s even Merriam-Webster’s example of the its use: “His daughter is the light of his life.”

Affleck plays a father looking after his young daughter, who appears to be a lone girl disguised as a boy to protect her from men.

“Let’s make a Y: The Last Man movie, but without all the annoying broads.”

I think it’s funny that the movie assumes that without women, utilities like electricity stop working and the men abandon their homes to go camp in the woods. Like, I know we are important and stuff, but I'm pretty sure that dudes can handle basic shit like keeping the lights on.

This has been going on for a lot longer than just this. I have to assume the brazenness of this particular scam is what brought them down. I knew a guy that was actually a very gifted athlete (all-state, etc). An Ivy League college wanted him, and not without good reason. He ended up being a captain in his “true” fresh

Part of the reason it’s supposedly becoming less necessary is exactly because of shit like this diluting the value, though.

It is astonishing. At least offer nitrous or something. I have some dental work trauma and my dentist throws anti anxiety/pain relief practically before I’m in the chair, even for just a cleaning! I do not understand why if the pain involves the uterus it doesn’t matter.
