 The amount of “I got mine, now fuck you” among conservatives is amazing. They get a hand up and then want to stomp on the head of everyone below them, because they think that they and they alone deserved that hand up.

I don’t know where this lady lives, but there are parts of the US that have experienced genuine stagnation or decline over the last few decades, despite the nation’s overall economic growth & recovery. Whatever was driving the economy where they lived has dried up, and they haven’t been able to adapt to changing…

I think they mean that if you travel to Pakistan to join a terrorist training camp or go to Thailand to take drugs and do sex tourism, you will have a higher likelihood of dying than if you go to a Mexican beach resort on a senior group tour.

And lots of Americans still think the South Will Rise Again. Hopefully a public trial with significant evidence will convince or at least totally demoralize them. If not, and they try anything, they’ll end up getting arrested.

At Senate hearing today someone (listened on radio & missed who) straight up said that Russian intelligence will probably use the same tools against senators running in 2018. Hopefully that fear will motivate some.

I think you’re right. In constitutional monarchies, the head of state & the head of government are different people. One does the symbolic stuff, the patriotism blah blah and the other handles the administration. In the US system, the President has to do both jobs and rarely (if ever) does them both well.

A few people do make serious bank by being at the top. Where I used to live there was a lady who had the Mary Kay pink Cadillac. I don’t know what her income was like, but yeah. It’s possible, just not by selling crap to your friends on Facebook.

Wow. That’s a huge red flag to me. I retail a small amount of apparel at my actual business, and if one of the distributors suggested that approach I’d tell them to take a hike. I tell them exactly what products I want, in which sizes and colors.

Those things are more multi- level marketing than pure pyramid scheme, like the author pointed out, but yeah - the “make money while being a SAHM” aspect is a big thing for those companies.

DC has plenty of neighborhoods that are mostly black, so I’m guessing the school is a response to the de facto segregation that already exists, rather than the other way around. (I don’t follow DCPS news, so I can’t say for sure.)
