I think we need to really raise awareness of the fact that climate change is one of the main factors behind the Syrian conflict and the rise of Boko Haram. “Climate change is causing Islamist terrorism right now” might make some of these right wing guys give a crap.

The DoD knows what’s up. Syria’s a goddamn case study in climate-change-induced conflict.

Just fyi, there are plenty of places in the US where it’s very common to see solar panels and where stores have to charge a $.05 tax for plastic bags. This is where our federalist system can work for us. Whatever the EPA does or doesn’t do, state and local governments can pass their own regulations.

The question, of course, is: do we *want* the kind of companies who will only build factories in countries that let them dump poisonous heavy metals in the water supply and choke cities with toxic fumes?

How about Putin?

His idol’s been running Russia since 2000, so yeah, he probably means >8. I wonder if that’s one of the things in the Constitution that Paul Ryan has been teaching Trump about.

Thanks for mentioning that - I hadn’t heard about that before, and... wow. No wonder he won’t release his taxes. How much you wanna bet his salary’s less than $500k?

I think that comes from the MRA wing of Trump’s base. These asshole misogynists who think that caring about other people makes you a “pussy”. They’re obsessed with their fragile toxic masculinity.

I don’t think those are mutually exclusive. I think Trump and some of these other guys look at Russia and may or may not see a *friend*, but they do see a *model*, a way to completely control the US for their personal financial gain and power.

For the ones where the Senate even gets a say, maybe.

You don’t give up a job that pays $40m for one that pays $200k unless you know exactly what it involves and how you can use it to massively enrich yourself in the long run.

The CIA has plenty of experience deposing leaders they think are working against American interests.

John McCain and Lindsay Graham are trying to get an investigation going, and if all of the Democrats work with them, I think that’ll be a majority in the Senate.

How much of Russia being broke is because of the sanctions?

In completely unrelated news, the frontrunner for Secretary of State is the CEO of ExxonMobil, who has “personal ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin”.

Don’t you have to buy the uniform?

What do you mean by how do they “handle” it? Like, logistically? (I’m not being snarky, I really don’t understand the question.)

Yeah, you might have pep rallies for other sports teams, but homecoming is once and it’s football.

When I was in high school, the techies would sneak away to the auditorium to work on sets or just hang out backstage during pep rallies. I’m not sure if the school admin actually knew we were doing that, but the guy who supervised us (who I think was actually the shop teacher, not the drama teacher?) let us hang out

Is it common to let alumni go to the dance part? While it’s been a long time, I’m pretty sure that was not the case at my school, unless they were someone’s slightly-older date. Letting random adult alumni go to a high school dance seems really inappropriate.
