It goes back at least as far as Rumsfeld derisively calling liberals “the reality-based community” during W’s first term (for basing their policy proposals on facts and studies and what’s been shown to be likely to produce the desired outcome in the real world, instead of starting with ideology and results will

Though I doubt even NYC hates him as much as DC, where he got 4% of the vote. 4%!!!! LOLOL

Wow. I do understand why people buy into the voter ID thing - even if the problem of people claiming to be someone else in order to vote twice is astronomically rare and the solution disenfranchises many registered voters, it’s at least a problem that theoretically *could* exist.

Maryland requires you to take a safety class before you can buy a handgun, which is $160 at the local range. And with the holidays coming up, I don’t have a ton of spare cash. So it’s going to have to wait until at least after Christmas.

Oh, by Clintons campaign I meant her against Trump. While the DNC did show her unfair favoritism in the primary, I’m not outraged about it.

The people I know who support him are all blue-collar white people who either 1) like to imagine they could be a small business owner, but, like, that would hard and stuff, or 2) are really bad at running their business and want to blame everyone else for their problems instead of taking responsibility to create

You mean, have a business sue on the grounds that Trump’s unconstitutional involvement with foreign nations is doing material harm to their bottom line?

I think all of this is kind of... I mean, for fucks sake, liberalism *is* a centrist/moderate ideology. The political spectrum in this country is so screwy. Hillary would be considered centrist or center-right anywhere else in the developed world. I think the Democrats do need to move a little away from liberalism -

Is Flynn the one that got in hot water for leaking classified intel to the Pakistani government?

Sure, but he’d also milk it for attention for as long as he could.

I have $5 worth of hope, I guess? I don’t think there’s much chance, but what the hell. At the very least, it’s a symbolic resistance.

A lot of things went wrong. But yeah, I agree that Bernie should have dropped out sooner and pushed for party (and the non-party left) unification harder, and I voted for him. :/

And maybe I’ll win a $500m jackpot, and maybe an asteroid will crash into the earth. It’s not entirely outside the realm of possibility that Trump could be a good president, but it’s pretty damn unlikely.

Not just the missile crisis. The Cuban Revolution scared the crap out of the US government; they were really worried that other Latin American countries might follow suit. That’s at least part of why the US supported right-wing dictators down there, and why the CIA went around foiling populist uprisings and trying to

IIRC, when his brother took over, he vanished for while and there were rumors he had died. Guess he was just in the hospital and they didn’t want to say.

He may not have a huge amount of influence in some ways, but he’s still the Commander in Chief and would be in charge of handling the response to unrest. Also, part of what I’m concerned about is a military coup either by or against Trump.

Honestly..... considering how many hate crimes have been committed in the last 3 weeks alone, and that people are already really dying, I think that’s an inevitable outcome. I’d rather do this now, with the Obama administration in charge, than later when we have a bunch of racists and fascists in power.

What about with the 6 electors that have promised to be faithless?

Yeah, while the *original purpose* of the Electoral College was to make sure that authoritarian populist demogogues like Trump wouldn’t get elected even if they got the majority of the vote, that wiser heads would prevail... that’s not actually how it’s been used.

Yeah, Hillary can’t be involved or it’ll look entirely like she’s being a sore loser. Having one of her opponents lead the call looks more objective. Plus, hopefully, this will bring the left together instead of having different parts of the left fight each other over whose fault it was that Trump won.
