I live in a small town in Canada and I love to chat with people wherever I go. My mom is the same way, she makes friends everwhere. My husband is a lot more reserved and our kids were recently encouraging him to be less shy because he will make more friends and be happier.

Thank you, I appreciate that. He was the gentlest, kindest man. We’ll miss him so much.

I just lost my father-in-law at age 64 and it is WAY too young. I feel for his family too. It’s heartbreaking.

I love that concert. With George Harrison’s mini-me there and Prince throwing his guitar up into the heavens. And it never comes back down. So great.

Jeff Lynne

My kids (ages 3 and 6) LOVE the Traveling Wilburys. My daughter was so upset to hear about Tom Petty. “There’s only two Wilburys left!”

I feel that way about Grace Kelly. What would it even be like to be that beautiful?

On a related note: I listened to the press conference from the Edmonton police and it was really incredible how the police took him down. They had to decide to chase him (which is a tough decision because civilians can get hurt) then they did some sort of manoeuvre with their police cars, causing him to crash, then

Canadians (I am one) are terrible about looking south of the border and thinking the racism that exists there has nothing to do with us. We have a huge problem with polite Canadian racism here. It’s shameful.

She is adorable. I loved her contributions in the video for Joan Crawford’s nourishing winter salad.

Jessica Chastain’s face!!

I’m in a rage that he would even dare to compare himself to Carroll O’Connor. Grrr.

My beloved IUD is all up in there doing its job. Congratulations to us!!

I’m not a sport goer but my husband occasionally watches Hockey Night in Canada so I’m here to confirm.

But how can you handle the kid in that version? I just can’t. Steven Weber is fine and Rebecca DeMornay is great but man, that kid. He presses my nerve, as my French-Canadian grandma would say.

I find The Shining more unsettling. It’s filled with dread.

It was definitely before Vatican II. On a semi-related note, I just finished a book about Istanbul and there was a section about Pope John XXIII working to get Jews out of Europe via Turkey during WWII, and it just really highlighted that he was a good man. So rare in popes.

1) All three of you are gorgeous.

There are no novels that she likes to read!?!?! So she writes her own and reads them?!? Jesus H.

My grandpa converted from the Anglican church to Catholicism to marry my grandma, and they were allowed to marry in the church but in one of the chapels off to the side, rather than the main altar area. My grandma is still pissed.
