Rocky Balboa is probably the sequel that’s closest to the actual theme of Rocky. The fight in Balboa is pretty dumb, but the rest of the film is a great bookend to the character’s life.

I thought the problem in ST:TMP was that the refit wasn’t complete and the Enterprise was being sent out on an emergency basis. Since they used the same basic explanation for Wrath of Khan, so maybe the problem is poor logistics rather than shoddy craftsmanship.
