The fight scene that gets excerpted in the trailer above was worth the time I spent watching the rest of the movie. Between that and Tony Jaa seemingly spending all of his non-fighting moments running balls-out after everyone, it was a decent way to spend 90-odd minutes on a slow weekend afternoon.

No way Frank Castle tells someone to have a nice day like Lundgren’s version did.

I made that mistake on an early-morning El ride in Chicago recently. Damn, but the funk coming off the homeless guys in that car could have peeled paint off the wall.

Anyone know what the average lifespan of an MLB career is these days or how many players actually make it to free agency? My gut sense is that it’s a higher percentage than in football, but that’s as informed as I get.

This is some next-level trolling right here.

For a large segment of the population, a seven-minute/mile run is out of the question, and running does very little for upper-body strength. I have the weaponized collarbones to prove that much, at least.

That’s not Lucy, it’s Violet.

Wait, you own a breadbox? Did you come here straight from the 1940’s?

Thank you. I just don’t get all the Skyfall love.

Well, assuming they manage to keep Zach Lowe on, I totally expect his articles to be as impossible to find as the former Ombudsmen’s articles were.

While I wouldn’t agree with the nomination, I could at least understand it on that theory.

Really? You and I have very different impressions of that movie.

“Parsing,” not “Parcing.”

Probably no one. I hope people aren’t relying solely on the presence of activated brake lights to know when to stop. That level of focus seems a bit narrow.

Is the “ounce” that’s used to price gold an imperial ounce or a troy ounce? There are only about 14.5 troy ounces to a pound, so the obscene worth of a swimming pool full of gold would be a measly $36 billion in that case.

In Illinois (at least), it’s illegal to put your car in neutral on the road. Granted, this is the sort of law that is never enforced, but it’s out there.

a hackneyed construction that still doesn’t stop del Toro from turning into a weak, screaming, shriveled mess in the second half.
