Plenty of people knew it was racist back then too, it’s just recently that the rise of the information age has helped partially democratize the fight for equality.

Something weird with how they drive though. Itty bitty steering wheel and lumpy but numb feedback made it a lousy city car, and the short wheelbase and droning (hybrid) power train made it a lousy cruiser. Also there was some weirdness requiring reprogramming of the hybrid system, which returned worse fuel economy…
Funny, I was thinking of the very same plastic in my 00 outback. The black matte plastics aren’t bad but the “wood” can provide some contrast. It does attract splatter and general grossness pretty easily though
Oof... Good topic. My dad likes to take his car for a “service” which is even more bogus a notion than a tune up. It’s really just an oil change and a thorough tire kicking by the stealership, but they have him convinced that they work some voodoo on it.
How do we feel about glossy plastic “wood” a la mid tier Japanese cars of the early 00s?
My friend had one of the previous generation. What a miserable turd
Cp, but just because it’s a 8-10k markup over the auto. I’ve been helping my girlfriend shop this gen Forester and it’s amazing how many of them are turbo. (She wants NA anyway... Fuel economy and stuff)
The ej25 in my outback does the same. Dumb ole engine flicks oil all over the place. All its quirks are endearing though, like the clunk clunk of the number 4 piston on a cold day, the way it groans and bellows when you floor it, and the James Bond smoke screen it deploys at a traffic light.
You’re totally right that it improves the towing, four wheeling, and general modding of a truck, but we need to face that 90% of trucks never do a lick of work. For not towing or going off road, unibody trucks are way less compromised. Think safety, efficiency, maneuverability, and NVH.
That’s wild, I’ll get to it. Amazing that it makes such a difference.
Truck buyers always push against modernity. The Ridgeline was better for most applications than an old school truck and yet it was eaten alive for not being “real”
Good call replacing the unknown electronics. Old hokey electronics systems are way too unpredictable for a long distance tow rig.
Never had to start my car much below freezing. California is a fantastic place. Previous owner optioned the “winter package” though, go figure...
Ej grounding issues.... Glad I’m not the only one. The electronics of my 00 act like they’ve been on the bottom of the sea
Don’t be stupid. Read the comment you’re replying to. You sound an awful lot like part of the problem.
Rallycross crushing machine. You heard it here first folks
I had the same year Outback wagon. What a hero of a car. That thing survived tons of redlining, slick mud, hoonery, washboard gravel, loading to the roof with gear, and date night ( ͡~ ͜ʖ ͡°)
I have the same confounded pocket. Never fails to dump CDs into my lap
It’s the one behind the v6 Odyssey and 3.2tl engine. Wearing clutch packs for 3rd gear if I remember correctly
Didn’t the legacy gt and outback xt both have the ej25, present in the sti? At time the wrx had the ej20
