Not to mention, there’s like zero storage space. A vast majority of mid engine cars have front/center storage and a parcel shelf thing behind the seats. The vette? Its got nothing inside. Huge problem if you want to keep a coat or umbrella with you without having to run to the frunk or trunk. 

Hard disagree. The interior is just as busy as any other car, and keeps alot of physical controls. They then give it the same metal/wood/shiny treatment they give all of their interiors. Do you want them to ditch the chrome? Do you want them to get rid of some buttons in favor of a touchscreen?

I agree. You wanna drive a tank on the road? You better put in the work beforehand to know how. 

This is actually really dangerous. In many situations, stopping to do a simple function in the screen can be more dangerous that just doing it on the go. 

Absolute crime against humanity. Tesla doing this and just barely well enough has started a permanent cavalcade of copycat touchscreen systems that are all worse. I cannot believe that not a single safety institute nor government has banned this level of touch screen reliance.

The dual screen Acura infotainment, that they’ve now replaced (thank god). Its bad in every single way. My experience with this system has made me a vehement detractor of touchscreen climate controls, and I vocally forbid any family members I can from buying a car with them.

I thought the same thing but now I disagree. Full EV’s are still hard to use in long journeys, and burning gas isn’t worth it for short trips. If you can charge at home, you can drive nearly gasoline free like 95% of the time. If you need to drive further, the gas motor will do it, and the hybrid system can still help…

All the CUV’s are bad on space. The civic hatch beat all of them on space, and most of them on performance, fuel economy, and even price. 

EXACTLY, me too. They’re the only company dedicated to making small cars left, and if they stick with physical controls and make the car as fun to drive as the current cooper s or se, we’ve got a winner. 

Not a single one on sale tickles my fancy. I want a golf/civic/kia forte sized hot hatch/compact with physical climate controls. Does a true EV compact exist with these two things? Nope. They can all fuck off for all I care. I like the taycan and E-tron, but they have their problems too.

The suspension is stiff enough. The brakes are small though, and the transmission tuning isn’t super aggressive. Tires will make it fun, but the slow steering won’t help. All of this car’s inputs make this a relaxing, smooth to operate car, even if you manage to raise its performance limits. I’m willing to see though…

My dad got one of these. The tires are BY FAR the weakest point on this car. Replace them with more reasonable performance tires, summer or all season, and I imagine it’ll handle much better, though still not like a hot hatch. It also lacks space. 

ABOLISH THE MONARCHY

As a Mazda fan, hard agree. Mazdas seems to appeal to a niche where people want a normal car, but only occasionally need the utility. Most people would not want to compromise on practicality in a compact or sedan in that price range, no matter how special the interior or looks may be. 

As sad as this is, if the Ioniq 6 is a true replacement for the sonata, with a comparable price (cost of ownership), size, and performance of the sonata, than this is fine.
