I wonder if some of the increase in support is connected in a small way with what we're going through economically. This proposition may give some people an illusion, subconsciously, of being able to control something outside themselves.

@Gingerlime: I'm with you there. Last time I checked, childbirth's generally pretty gross. It often involves poop, not to mention the blood, various fluids, and afterbirth. It definitely is also wonderful and awe inspiring...I don't see why it can't be both at the same time.

We spent an entire day in my psychosexual adjustment class learning about Sanger. She really is extremely interesting and did some awesome and bold things. She definitely had faults, but I don't think that makes her life less worthy of being studied (perhaps makes it more) or really diminishes much her contributions.
