Or the sign of a person who buys a phone with good glass...I’ve used my OnePlus 5 for 2 years without a screen protector and only just now do I notice *very* subtle scratches that are only visible at very particular angles and when the screen is off.

Oh how far we’ve come...a very powerful $700 is “pedestrian.” And naturally Apple nickel and dimes the dipshits that buy it for a $30 power brick that likely costs 4 dollars to make.

A lot of good people on both sides?

2 quick ones:

Counterpoint: hockey announcers/sportscasters say National Hockey League a fair bit. Particularly when they’re talking about contracts. “He might end up the highest paid defenceman in the National Hockey League.” “This kid’s got talent, but he’s gonna have to keep it up to a very high level if he’s gonna be successful

MLS announcers drive me to drink because if I’m hearing them, that means someone has a soccer game on somewhere. And as if it’s not bad enough that soccer is on, it’s MLS, with their fake-Euro-Premier League names to appease the pretentious soccer dorks who didn’t wanna tell people in the early years that they like

Cops are the fucking worst. They don’t see anything, they “observe.” If you say something, you didn’t say it, you “indicated to the arresting officer.” There are no people, just “individuals.” It doesn’t hold any more water if you use big words, fellas.

Listen to Let Go and The Stars Are Indifferent To Astronomy and you shall be rewarded.

Nada Surf is actually one of the best suggestions I’ve seen here. A so-called one hit wonder who could actually write songs and to this day enjoy a following based not on that song but on the (much lesser known) work that came later. Let Go and The Stars Are Indifferent are both SUPER good records. A well earned star

I love both Sloan and The Hip and have seen both bands 10+ times each, but definitely Sloan records sound more like themselves than Hip records. Put on Navy Blues and then put on Never Hear The End Of It and then put on Commonwealth. THEN put on Up To Here, Day For Night, and Now For Plan A. Tell me which band evolved

Don’t worry, if you can play that song, you can play 9 other Everclear songs too. Creative they were not.

+1 grunge song...wow, RFV. That is a name I’ve not heard in a long time.

+1 job at the Pizza Pizza

OLP fans get offended because BNL were basically a grassroots, word-of-mouth band and had much more loyal fans from the beginning. OLP on the other hand, was a record company project foisted on the public with songs co-written and played on by industry people from the get go. Naveed is a great record but Ed Robertson

Wow I really want to know what else you listened to if you think Candlebox is the high water mark of rocking in any year of any decade.

That is definitely not a raise. The riff from their most popular song is a note for note lift of a Smashing Pumpkins tune, and that guy’s voice is second only to Scott Stapp and maybe the Candlebox guy for maximum yerrrrrrrr. Gin Blossoms, while maybe not quite HOF material, were much, much better songwriters.

give me airwolf or give me death

Fortunately all of the above happened at a soccer game in the US, so no one was aware of it’s existence at all.

I certainly don’t mean to chastise a guy who’s in the blackest hole of his life right now, but a) I can’t imagine he himself will ever read this, and b) isn’t it exactly the time? Not for him perhaps (clearly he has a mountain of shit to work through), but for those of us who haven’t had our family wiped out and are
