None of the above. It’s pointless and maybe naive, but it’s a principle. I’m a journalist who was laid off last year because people weren’t using the service I was providing, and it was awful.

I refuse (almost always) to use self-checkout lanes because they turn the customer into a scab. Bagging groceries, scanning groceries ... that’s a job.
