They don’t come to Australia often but I’ve seen them twice in relatively small venues (compared to the stadia they play in the UK) and they were absolutely amazing live, James especially of course.

They fell out of style to an extent, but their albums have all debuted quite high (in the UK) since and they’re still selling out arenas.

Send Away the Tigers and Postcards from a young man are of a piece - I know Nicky said that Postcards was their “last attempt at mass communication” so it’s big and poppy, but I don’t find it too far off from the Send away the tigers sound.

13 albums in, and probably 10 of them are worth listening to repeatedly*; a remarkable run really. While Nicky’s lyrics are often a bit rough, the tunes James comes up with (and his amazing singing and guitar playing) are really under-appreciated.

I’m seeing double - 28 Slaquamarines!

Not real hair, though.

I think in Germany it’s pronounced with a hard “g” - or maybe it was in Italy. I remember seeing/hearing TV commercials when I was on holiday.

He wasn’t just saying that to curry favour with Mitch et al?

It’s Bibi.

What’s wrong with ketchup? I’d ditch the sausage and eat a ketchup-only hot dog just to spite you.

You’re not thinking in three dimensions, good sir.

12 or more hot dogs a month”

Of course it is. Ketchup goes on almost anything. Spaghetti bolognese, lasagne, fried noodles - it just works.

I’d split a hotdog.

Pssht, Germans.

F*** México, and f*** the f***ing Diaz brothers!

How wrong can you be. The film is a string of amazing scenes from the get go (yes, I do mean Neil leaving the subway and making his way to steal the ambulance) - it’s all so beautiful.

It took me a few reads before I understood that “Stream Boy” isn’t an album.
