Nixon's Back!

Slightly off topic since the article is about higher education, but I went to a private Catholic high school and the science education there was way better than at the public university I went to after. And I don't mean creation/bible science, because most Catholics don't do that crap.

All analogies are flawed, but I compare this to someone buying a movie ticket and talking loudly during the film. He bought the ticket and the theater didn't physically prevent him from speaking, but management can still compel him to leave the theater for violating their rules.

I was really surprised by the Loras and Renly thing in the show. I didn't take that at all from the books. But Martin works on the show too, so it can't be that far off from what he intended.

No, not too soon. Many years too late for those children.

Edgar Allen Poe, Action Hero.

This is such an enjoyable show. Just finished watching the Scandal in Belgravia and have to say that the characters continue to become more complex and human. A quite rare (and exciting) phenomena in television shows anymore.

Not often do I find a soundtrack that I must own. Bastion was one, Braid another, and I still like the Advent Rising soundtrack.

"All is well on Earth – food is plentiful, climate ills are cured, and war is nonexistent."

Probably not too far off, but I would guess for rather more pragmatic reasons. There is far less landmass in the Southern Hemisphere and therefore a much greater chance of landing in the ocean. Still not very nice.

I haven't laughed this hard in quite some time. Bravo, sir.

Excellent. The editing on that youtube video was crap in a can.

That's because all books have that feature included. Its called "Book Club."

Dostoyevsky is one of my favorite authors. That being said, his work consistently puts me to sleep while reading.

Whether or not that assumption is accurate, it is extremely bigoted. Why does it matter whether men or women are passing judgement on the choices of another? Would it be less bad if women were the ones being critical?

Same with the idea that males are not subjected to sexually threatening speech online. As a male, I can't tell you how often I hear that I should go suck a cock or that I'm about to be raped in the ass.

First, I'm not demanding anything. Second, I'm not watching Game of Thrones and expecting it to be a History Channel documentary.

America's Most Wanted created viable analogs of crimes and they put "Dramatization" at the bottom. I'm not trying to say that these staged events have no value, just that portraying them as authentic animal-in-the-wild behavior is misleading at best.

I would want to know about any documentary that used arranged situations or paid actors and played it off as authentic.

Hate their bigotry and politics all you want, but that doesn't make the story false.

Well, if a bear in the wild would have killed him, and a bear in captivity would not, then we didn't really see the behavior of a bear in the wild as we were lead to believe.
