I think you are missing something important here:

Space elevator has to be at geostationary.

Picture it like if you attach a bucket to a string and then spin around really fast so that the bucket is flying in the air at hip level. Now what happens if the string snaps where you are holding it? It flies away. A space elevator would do the same.

At the time scales you are talking about - where we would be a swarm in the galaxy - there is no such thing as sustainability. Even the stars burn out.

To drive a species to extinction is a loss for all. What does it mean when we do it twice?

Not really, unfortunately. Just as we have programming (biology and instincts) so would an AI. Think of Asimov's 3 laws. It doesn't matter how smart an AI is, it is still bound by the laws. Sometimes a super smart AI can use a contradiction in the laws themselves to skirt the edges of their programming, but they can't

I don't think anyone's ever said "I would be extremely selfish and horde all my money, but Jesus, so I'll donate a bunch to charity instead." So charity doesn't score any points in religions favor.

I would doubt that the 1999 is much faster. Probably slower because of modern architecture designs. The power consumption for that 1999 will be through the roof in comparison.

No. It will be "upgraded" to high speed from their "old, slow, broadband".

You mean all the dirt, debris, and organic particles.... in the water?

I discovered this one recently too. I hate anime and even more so when it is subbed and not dubbed. That said, Legend of the Galactic Heroes is hand down some of the best fiction I have come across in any form of media. I cannot even begin to articulate exactly how damn good it is.

The NHL/NHLPA just inked a deal with GoPro to bring action cams to televised hockey across the United States and Canada using the camera company's newly developed broadcast solution. The inaugural usage will be this weekend's NHL All Star Game, as well as in the events leading up to the game, like the annual skills

As a hockey player, I imagine that knowing where the puck is going to go helps a lot in being able to follow it. But islefan is right, you should be watching the game, not the puck.

Hmm, the section about how they congregate gave me an idea. Introducing.....

"widely distributing public information" is the definition of dox.

Thanks. Now we're all on some watch list.

I'm not sure widely distributing public information falls under threat laws.

Skeptics are convinced by overwhelming evidence. They are deniers because there are no skeptics left.

Drones are expensive. Aircraft like General Atomics's MQ-1 Predator or MQ-9 Reaper cost millions of dollars piece, while the cost of maintaining the fleet stretches into the high tens of billions dollars over their lifespans.

I have win8 on a tablet and a desktop PC. I actually prefer it on the desktop. As others have said, as good as 7 was, 8 is simply better.
