USC’s big draw is the networking. And you certainly buy your way in there. I grew up in the general area, and the kids who went to UCS were rich and had parents who were part of the Alumni Association. It’s a 4 year club.

It isn’t. It’s a massive party school. People like this go there primarily for connections, not education.

It is referred to as “University of Spoiled Children” for a reason. The 13% acceptance rate is probs just for those “requiring financial assistance.” Gotta keep that sick alumni fund rolling in, and that just doesn’t happen as much when multi-generational wealth isn’t involved.

Yeah, I was also shocked when I found out that USC’s acceptance rate was low. Mind you, Yale’s is still half USC’s, but 13% is low enough that you’ll need to resort to bribery if your child isn’t smart on paper. A lot of people want to go to USC for very different reasons than they want to go to the Ivies.

I guess that’s my biggest take from all this. I had no idea USC was considered a prestigious college (and most definitely not in the league of Ivy), maybe aside form their film school, which really is just a thing because of it’s distance to Hollywood.

I don’t think the same crowd that is desperate to get into USC is trying to get into Yale. It’s a completely different kind of prestige.

It’s not a groundbreaking revelation, but it’s good to see it confirmed. Also, you assumed correctly, but a lot of people actually chimed in defending the daughters because they believed their laughable “I had no idea!” act. When it comes to pretty people, the public is infinitely gullible.
