I wouldn’t be really blunt, but I’d let them know. Coming to realize what my mother had been through was helpful to me I think, understanding why she acted certain ways and had done some things.

Yeah that sounds rather shitty. It could be he’s one of those people who downplays things because they don’t want to feel indebted to you (in a general sense). Or he’s just inconsiderate.
Either way I’d just try to make peace with it as a lesson not to get too invested in plans with him in the future.

I don’t think the youth-chasing economy/media/culture is the part Jason Heller was disagreeing with. Probably more the notion of our species being so hard-wired to find youth sexually attractive that it extends to people that young.

If something gets a lot of views it shows up there. Eg if an old article is linked from and update to the story it’ll often pop up there.
I’m presuming that one’s linked from some pinned reddit thread or Cracked article or whereever so gets a constant flow of visitors.
