This will sell well in emerging markets such as China. People care more about image and making a statement than subtle style. They know that people from Europe and the US will still buy it because of the badge. It will sell just fine, but I agree, it’s hideous.

I don’t think they would be sued. Mercedes had a few hilarious failures with their auto braking system as well and never got legal trouble. As long as the drivers sign an agreement to always look at the road (which they do when they buy the car), I don't see how you could sue here.
